First two readings stress on charity and love. In the Gospel,
Jesus instructs the way to bring correction and forgiveness.
These are directed specifically to individuals. In some
occasions it may be misinterpreted by church leaders and
pastors for any common issues.
Jesus gives importance to relationship. Forgiveness is
freeing someone of the punishment they deserve for their
sins. Relationships however are built on trust, love and
actions. A relationship will never be restored without
forgiveness. If one wants to have close relationship with
spouse, family, friends and community then one needs to
develop relationship with confrontation. The Gospel
passage gives several rules for confrontation. They are to
seek to reconcile not revile, to begin in private and move to
public domain, to imitate being Jesus to the world. I think
the mark of a great Church is not the size of its building, not
the number of families, it is not even how much it serves the
community. The mark of a great Church is one that is
known how to handle conflicts in the way Jesus would
expect us to handle! The key to fulfilment in life is love,
which is concern for the welfare of others shown in many
ways-including in praying for each other and correcting one
another in fraternal charity.
