The First International Space Conference-2012 was organised by IL-NU in collaboration with Aryavarta Space Organisation from November 30- December 1, 2012. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. P S Krishnan, distinguished scientist & director, ADE - DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India,and Dr. R B Shah, Director General ASO. In the post lunch session, Dr. P S Krishnan delivered a key note address on different issues of 'Space'. On December 1, 2012 second and third technical sessions were held.The sessions were chaired by Prof. Tarkesh Molia and Dr. Rushi Ghadawala respectively. After the session, Padmshree Dr. V. Adimurthy delivered a key note address. Overall, twenty-two participants from across the globe presented papers on different issues of 'space'.Ms. Jayashree Parihar, Symbiosis Law School, Noida, bagged the best paper award for her paper "Space Debris and the Legal Problems". Dr. N. Bangkim Singh was the organizing secretary of ISC-2012.
Intramural Moot Court Competition: The Moot Court Committee organized an Intramural Moot Court competition on September 22, 2012. The problem was based on the recent issue of FDI in retail sector. There were 321 participants divided into 107 teams of three each and it was judged by 16 eminent lawyers of high court; making it the biggest Intramural Moot Competition organized so far by IL-NU. 15 teams were selected from this competition and these teams will be representing IL-NU in National Moot Court Competitions this year.

City Conventional Debate Competition on the topic
“Allowing FDI in Multi-Brand Retail Sector: Whether Boon
or Bane for Indigenous Industry?” on October 6, 2012 .
35 participants from different colleges of Ahmedabad
and other cities participated. Mr. Hardik Modh,
advocate, Economic Law Practice and Professor Yogesh
Doshit from IM-NU, Ahmedabad were the Judges. Mr.
Anandkumar R Shindhe was the faculty advisor of the

The Centre for Social Justice held “Reflections……
Looking Ahead”, 2012 on October 3, 2012 in the IL-NU
premises. It comprised of the following events:- Counter
Encounter, Essay Competition, Poster/Collage/T-shirt
Painting, Photography Contest.
This event saw voluntary participation across the
semesters to show and reflect upon their creative talents.

Training programmes
Ms. Nandini Sinha delivered an expert lecture at MGLI
on "Conflict Management" on 4th October 2012.
Ms. Khyati Shah delivered an expert lecture for taking
lectures at Shri Jairambhai Patel Institute of Business
Management and Computer Applications on Taxation
of Companies and Taxation of Non-Residents from
October 29, 2012 to October 31, 2012.
Dr. Shalini S. conducted a guest lecture on "Role of
Human Resource Management in Globalized Era" at
Global Institute of Management on October 13, 2012.
Dr. Rhishikesh Dave was invited as a resource person
by Nehru Study Centre, University of Rajasthan to
deliver a lecture on the topic of “Human Rights and
Values: Jurisprudential analysis” during UGC Sponsored
National Workshop on “Human Rights and Value
Education” held between October 27 – November 2,
2012 at Jaipur.
Participation in Seminar / Workshop
Ms. Silky Mukherjee attended a 10 days workshop on
Teaching and Research for newly appointed teachers
from October 13-22, 2012 at National Law School of
India University, Bangalore. The workshop was
conducted by IBA- CLE Chair, National Law School,
Bangalore and Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy and
Training, Trivandrum.
Nitesh Chaudhary participated in two Day
International Conference on Travails of “Modernity”
from December 1-2, 2012, organized by Aarohi, Centre
for Educational and Social Studies, Bangalore in
collaboration with Ghent University, Belgium and
Kuvempu University, Bangalore.
Achievements
1. IL-NU team was adjudged the Third Best Team at Stetson
International Environmental Moot Court Competition. The
competition was held from November 30 - December 2, 2012 at
NLIU, Bhopal. In the semi finals we were against RMNLU (who
stood first) and our score was very close to qualify for Florida -
International rounds. Our performance was much appreciated by
the judges, our personal feedback was amazing, and we stood
the third best team. Following are the names of the participants:

Speaker/Mooter, 3. Varnali Purohit Semester V - B – Researcher.
th2. IL-NU team won third position in the 12 Henry Dunant
Memorial Moot Court Competition, organized jointly by the
Indian Society of International Law (ISIL) and the International
Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Delhi.The team comprised
of three students Vibhor Chaplot, Ankita Maitreya and Manushi
Yadav. A total of 49 participated from law colleges all over India.
They were facilitated by the Institute on October 17, 2012 for
their outstanding performance.
