LAST MONTH by Mary Shortridge Jenkinson’s fly-in last month was a terrific gath- ering of a real cross section of our group. We had long- time members, new members, and friends young and old we hadn’t seen in quite a while. The young Shore grandchildren are not so young anymore. Gene proudly reports they range in age from college to first grade. Hard to believe the baby is in first grade. Interesting how children grow up so quickly, but it takes a lot longer for me to get older... The flight line was quite varied, too. Capturing my attention first thing was the 170, which in years past has been in the hangar, but this year took its place front and center outside, sparkling in the sunshine. Jack made sure the nose was to the wind, as those big wings were paying close attention to the wind as it came up. We really were blessed with a beautiful day to gather. It was quite fun to see the big smile on Bill Anton’s passenger’s face as they departed. Kris Wag- ner, 12, is becoming quite a regular at our fly-ins, and submitted some of his favorite photos he took for FLY PAPER. You can see them on page 5. Thank you, Kris! I bet we’ll see Kris at the Liberal Air Show on Saturday. I hope you don’t miss this free event; there is all kinds of fun aviation activities, including Young Eagle rides, scheduled. Young Eagle pilots are scheduled to arrive at 9:30, flying kids shortly after. The airport closes to air traffic at 12:30 when the air show begins. It is scheduled to be closed until 3:30pm, but that time is subject to change. Bring the family, bring the neighbors, just make sure you show up! September is busy with events every weekend. The third weekend in the month is the annual Scott City bbq/airshow event. The Spencer Flight and Education Center is having their Grand Opening Celebration on Friday at 3pm. All aviation enthusiasts are encouraged to attend. Our “official” EAA #377 September gathering was postponed until the fourth Saturday, September 22 to avoid conflicts with the above mentioned events. THIS MONTH Saturday, September 22 @ Judy Ranch OK39 SEPTEMBER 2012 EAA CHAPTER 377 Fly in at 11—Noon potluck in the hangar Join us THE FOURTH SATURDAY IN SEPTEMBER for our monthly potluck lunch at the beautiful Judy Ranch Airport.
