Masters Message WM George Llewellyn GREETINGS FROM THE EAST July provided Sequim Lodge a wonderful oppor-tunity to experience our participation in the Grand Lodge cornerstone ceremony at the new Sequim Museum and Arts Grand opening on Saturday, July 6th. Grand Lodge officers arrived at Sequim Lodge to conduct the opening of the Master Mason Lodge at 1000 AM, after which everyone went to the Museum to per-
form the Cornerstone Ceremony. There was a very large turnout of both Masons and other interested citi-zens, and the Grand Lodge Photographer was also very busy, with at least 261 numbered pictures, and also some un-numbered. They can be viewed by any-one on the WA Grand Lodge web site under recent activities. It was said this was one of the biggest attendances ever seen at a corner-stone laying ceremony, and my being able to participate in a small role was indeed an honor and pleasure for me as well, being the part of Grand Architect to present the working tools to the Grand Master. After the ceremony the Museum was open for all to peruse the displays, then anyone interested returned to our Lodge for refreshments. Then later that afternoon, a number of Sequim Masons went to the Port Townsend Lodge where at 400 PM there was two 2nd degrees performed. What a full day for absorbing great Masonic activities! Fraternally, WB George A. Llewellyn
WB Bob Clark was presented his white leather apron by WM George.

From the West By WB Phil Ford
Greetings from the West Masonic Protocol (Decorum) and Etiquette PROTOCOL is - An accepted mode of doing something: form, cus-tom, standard, formality, social rule. - A course of action to be followed regularly: agenda, program, routine. - A standard of social behavior for an event. ETIQUETTE – Well mannered behavior towards others :
politeness, good manners, courtesy, respectfulness. As you can see from these definitions the meaning of these words are very similar. In the Lodge room PROTOCOL is more the rules we live by and ETIQUETTE is the common courtesy we afford each other. Unfortunately, Masonic Etiquette and Decorum are largely unpublished as well as unspoken, therefore making it more difficult to learn its rule and nuances. You may study ritual work, degree work Masonic history, symbols jewels etc. but little is written about how to conduct of yourself so as not look foolish or be regard-ed as disrespectful. Over time, and by watching others, members conform them-selves to exhibit proper Masonic Etiquette behavior. As a Mason it is expected that we will exhibit the proper decorum and propriety in observance of the formal re-quirements which govern behavior in polite societies Some are small things. And some are not, but your lodge conduct is continually on display. Some Rules of Masonic Etiquette: The Worshipful Master is the most power member of the Lodge. Brethren should not pass between the Master (East) and the Alter when Lodge is open. This is a courtesy to the Master. It is necessary that the three Great Lights which shine their eternal light and wisdom upon the Master to help him govern the Lodge should never be in shadow. As a form of respect to the Master all members should stand and wait to be recognized before addressing the Master. Also by standing the brethren may all see who is speaking. Side talk is considered to be bad manners. It serves to be a distraction to others. Exhibit good posture. Good posture is necessary while within the Lodge room. Lounging, legs crossed, and leaning should be avoided especially by the officers. Poor posture is consider poor Masonic etiquette. Masonic Etiquette, (decorum) for the most part, is merely good manners and respect for your Lodge, its members, its Worshipful Master and the convention of Freema-sonry, in general. Bremerton Valley Scottish Rite By VWB Jim Hansen
BREMERTON Valley Scottish-Rite Will be DARK FOR AUGUST. HAVE A GREAT SUMMER
EVERYONE. SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER.
Greetings from Pilgrim Chapter! As I write this, it’s hard to believe that summer is more than 2/3 over! We are getting ready to have our summer pic-nic at Bob Clarks’ and in just a few weeks, we will be up at the Clallam County Fair working the Corn Booth with the
Sequim Masons. One of the things I enjoy most about OES and our Ma-sonic Family is being a part of these outings and events. Sure, meetings are fun (HA!), but there is always more time to sit and chat with members at our outings and events. This fellowship and time with friends and our family, is what makes OES and the Masons, truly special! If you haven’t signed up for helping at the Corn Booth, please give An-naLee Smith a call at: 360-461-3008. There is always something to help with; even sitting down and shucking corn is a BIG help! Don’t worry about getting into the fair, because if you sign up to help BEFORE August 10, then we can get you a free day pass to get in. The dates for the fair are August 15-18. The Corn Booth will be open from 8AM-10PM and AnnaLee has divided up the shifts so they aren’t too long for anyone. This is an important Fund Raiser for both Pilgrim Chapter and Sequim Lodge and any help that we can get from our members is MUCH appreciated. We have a new Deputy Instructor for the Peninsula Chapters….Rhonda Cays!!! Way to go Rhonda!! I look forward to working with her this year and am very excited that we have another member of our Chapter that is our Deputy Instructor. Woohoo and Congratulations!! I hope you have a wonderful August. And remember…. Take time to laugh, it’s the music of the soul. Star Love, Laurie Brilhante, Worthy Matron Pilgrim Chapter 157, OES
