Because of that we invited the SAPD’s Dog Unit to our school on Tuesday. We requested them to search our high school learners and buildings and we are very happy to report that nothing irregular was found. We believe in being trans- parent and proacve when it comes to the health and safety of our learners. / Dit is vir ons baie belangrik dat ons die regte boodskap uitstuur aan ons leerders, ons ouers en ons gemeenskap. As gevolg hiervan het ons Dinsdag die SAPD se honde-eenheid genooi om ons skool te besoek. Ons het hulle versoek om ons hoërskool leerders en geboue te deursoek. Dit is vir ons baie lekker om terug te rapporteer dat niks on- twegs gevind is nie. Ons glo daarin om deursigg te wees en pro-akef op te tree. Toetsreeks / Test Cycle (see page 3 for metable) Ons het na erensge oorweging besluit om die kwartaal ‘n verkorte toetsreeks te skryf. Wees asb bewus dat die leerders as deel van hul kwartaalpunte nog steeds klastoetse ook sal skryf en portefuelje opdragte sal voltooi tot en met die eksamen. / We have, aſter serious consideraons, decided to add in a shortened Test Cycle before the exam starts at the end of May. Please be aware that the students will sll be wring normal class tests and will be compleng porolio pieces up to the exam, as it is part of the term marks. Great discount!! /Groot Afslag!! The cost of the exisng sports uniforms (i.e. old Barbarian) has been reduced by 50% of the usual cost price, plus VAT. We are in the process of phasing in the new Canterbury Sports Uniforms and a lot of our sports’ teams will sll be compeng in the Barbarian sports iniforms. / Die Koste van ons bestaan Sportuitrusng (m.a.w. ou Barbarian) is verminder met 50% van die normale Kosprys, plus BTW. Ons is besig met die infasering van die nuwe Cantebury Sportdrag en meeste van ons spanne sal nog deelneem in die Barbarian Sportdrag. External Open Day Grade 8’s / Eksterne Opedag On Saturday 13 th April we had our first Open Day in 2013 for learners from outside of our school. It was great to see the interest that was shown. We are wring our first set of Diagnosc Assessment tests for prospecve Gr. 8 learners for 2014 this Saturday. If you are aware of any current Grade 7 learners who would be interested in enrolling at Serenge for 2014, will you be so kind as to inform them to get in to touch with us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. / Ons het Saterdag 13 April ons eerste opedag in 2013 vir leerders buite ons skool gehou. Sending out the Right Message!! / Ons stuur die regte boodskap uit!! -

It is important to us that we send out the right message to our learners, our parents

and our community. Because of that we invited the SAPD’s Dog Unit to our school on

Toetsreeks / Test Cycle (see page 3 for timetable)

Ons het na erenstige oorweging besluit om die kwartaal ‘n verkorte toetsreeks te skryf. Wees asb bewus

dat die leerders as deel van hul kwartaalpunte nog steeds klastoetse ook sal skryf en portefuelje opdragte

sal voltooi tot en met die eksamen. / We have, after serious considerations, decided to add in a shortened Test Cycle

before the exam starts at the end of May. Please be aware that the students will still be writing normal class tests and

will be completing portfolio pieces up to the exam, as it is part of the term marks.

3 Winter Uniform / Wintersdrag

Die dra van wintersuniform sal van 1 Mei verpligtend wees. Alle leerders moet in volle

wintersdrag geklee wees.

Dress code for girls: Long sleeved Curro shirts with the Curro Serengeti tie. Blue Curro

skirts must be worn with blue stockings. Jerseys and Curro blazers are to be worn. Only

blue scarves and blue gloves will be allowed.

Dress code for boys: Curro pants, Curro long sleeved shirts and Curro Serengeti tie will be

worn. Jerseys, blazers, blue scarves and blue gloves are the correct uniform for winter.

Dogters mag onder geen omstandighede hulle hemde laat uithang nie.

On the 25th April, there will be an evening of Public Speaking in our hall,

commencing at 18 30.

Three candidates from each grade ( Gr 8 – 12 ) will be presenting their speeches for adjudication on that evening.

Well Done!!/ Baie Geluk!!

Well done to our Drama learners with

their great results during the National

Championships in Rustenburg. One of

group was chosen to perform at the gala

evening and the other group was chosen

to take part for Team South Africa at the

World Championships in Los Angeles. /

Baie geluk aan ons Dramaleerders met

hulle fantastiese uitslae tydens die Natio-

nale kampioenskappe in Rustenburg. Een

van ons groepe was gekies om tydens die

gala-aand op te tree en die ander groep is

gekies om as deel van “Team South Afri-

ca” aan die Wêreld Kampioenskappe in

Los Angeles deel te neem.
