Micro Motion® Series 3000 electronics combineCoriolis transmitter functions and PLC capabilities inone instrument. Four models of Series 3000transmitter/controllers feature different combinations offunctionality to suit a wide variety of process controlapplications.
Series 3000 transmitter/controllers provide discreteprocess control for batch applications, advanceddensity analyses, net oil measurement, custodytransfer security, and more. Transmitter functionalityincludes highly accurate Coriolis flow, density, andtemperature measurement — in a single device. Withall this performance, Series 3000 transmitter/controllers deliver significant increases in capability ata cost-effective price.
For applications that require only simple valve closuresor alarms, select a model with discrete controlfunctions only. When also measuring and displayingprocess parameters, choose a discrete controller withan integrated transmitter. When your needs change, adding transmitter functionality to a controller youalready own is easy.
Because Series 3000 transmitter/controllers combinethe functionality of several instruments, you candecrease your plant's labor, maintenance, andoperating costs while increasing efficiency, accelerating throughput, and improving product quality.
In many cases, an application that might otherwiserequire density meters, temperature detectors, refractometers, or other peripheral instruments can besimplified with a single device — a Series 3000transmitter/controller. Series 3000 electronics take careof all your measurement needs, automatically, and withno maintenance. Manual calculations, estimations, andadditional laboratory testing are no longer necessary.
Micro Motion works closely with a number ofinternational standards organizations to providesolutions for many common processes. Processcurves, such as the one below, are developed byMicro Motion and entered into Series 3000 memory, either at the Micro Motion factory or at your site. TheSeries 3000 open architecture allows you to enter yourown proprietary process curve data, easily andaccurately.
Micro Motion has developed process curve data formany proprietary fluids. You benefit throughMicro Motion’s comprehensive understanding of theprocess variables that affect the accuracy of thesemeasurements.
Series 3000 Transmitters and Discrete Controllers 3
POINT-OF-PROCESS CONTROLSeries 3000 transmitter/controllers allow you toefficiently and effectively optimize your unique processcontrol needs. Series 3000 electronics are the perfectsolution for point-of-process applications that requireaccurate process indication and focused PLCcapabilities.
Configuration, operation, and maintenance are allaccomplished using the innovative Series 3000user interface. The interface features an easy to use, oversized, backlit display with large, tactile-feedbackpushbuttons. Other user interfaces, such as hand-heldcommunication devices, are not required.
Each Series 3000 device can simultaneously supportup to three applications, and functionality can be addedto support your changing requirements. TheSeries 3000 architecture was designed to be flexiblefor easy field upgrades. Series 3000 electronicsinclude the ability to upload new software for additionalor future applications, and the capacity to accept newhardware as it becomes available.
Process monitor and totalizerAll Micro Motion Series 3000 discrete controllers andtransmitter/controllers provide process monitoring formultiple variables, including Coriolis mass flow, volumeflow, density, and temperature. Process monitoring andtransmitter totalizer control is built into the electronics.
Discrete batch controlDiscrete batch control is easy with Micro MotionSeries 3000 discrete controllers and transmitter/controllers. Batch control includes these functions:
• Configuration of up to six preset batch recipes
• One-stage or two-stage batch control
• End-of-batch warning and batch-overrun alarms
• Configuration by quantity or by percent of target forprimary valve closure, secondary valve openingand closure, end warning, and batch overrun
• Configuration for target lockout, or for targetadjustment during batch operation
Discrete batch control provides one more uniquefeature, automatic overshoot compensation. AOCmonitors and automatically adjusts flow rate to accountfor valve closure time, reducing setup time andmaintenance costs.
Enhanced densitySeries 3000 electronics are unique in their ability toprovide enhanced density solutions for a number ofapplications, including:
• %HFCS, °Brix, °Plato, °Balling; °Baumé atSG60/60
• Density at reference temperature
• Specific gravity
• Concentration derived from reference density
• Concentration derived from specific gravity
Net oilThe Series 3000 Net Oil Computer is the perfectanswer for your crude oil applications. The Series 3000NOC provides:
• Well-performance measurement
• Group production, continuous measurement
• Oil and water density determination
• Transient bubble remediation (TBR)
• Backflow totalizers and compensation
