Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, or commonly known as CPR, is an emergency life-saving procedure done when an individual’s breathing or heartbeat suddenly stops. Brain damage could be caused within minutes of cardiac arrest, so the advantages of knowing and performing CPR to save a life are endless. Early CPR is an important factor in the effectiveness of defibrillation and subsequent patient survival. Victims who receive high-quality CPR are more likely to survive. Anyone can learn CPR – and everyone should! Sadly, 70 percent of Americans may feel helpless to act during a cardiac emergency because they either do not know how to administer CPR or their training has significantly lapsed. This alarming statistic could hit close to home, because home is exactly where 88 percent of cardiac arrests occur. Realizing the importance and advantages of CPR is the first step in helping your rental community.
