Applications

Water FiltrationUsed to initiate backwash of the filter. These can be bag filters, sand filters, and disc filters. Starts on increase of differential pressure. Filters are varied in application from irrigation systems to cooling towers.

Applications

Coolant FiltersUsed to initiate backwash of filter. Starts on increase of differential pressure. These are filters used to clean the coolant used on machining systems. Cleans out the metal bits from the coolant.

Applications - BAS

ChillersProves flow of liquid from pump through the chiller. Often called evaporator water pressure drop.

Applications - Chiller

All Trane units are pre-packaged with a vane flow switch. The majority of integrators and installers feel these are problematic and throw them away and use a DP switch or current switch.Trane variable flow pump units tend to use DP switches as a current switch doesn’t work as well on variable speed driven pumps.

Applications - BAS

AC Units or Heat PumpsUsed in buildings on the condenser water loop that goes between the cooling tower on the roof to the AC unit in a particular zone in a building. Usually each floor has one AC unit. Used in all high-rises.

Applications - BAS

AC Units or Heat PumpsOften called a “Condenser Water Lock-Out Switch”. AC unit will freeze up if no flow through it.

Page 15: Series DX

Applications - BAS

Key for BAS applications is the low set point. They are trip on a decrease of DP, so the unit can be set to .035 bar. Also key is tight deadband for early reset on increase of pressure.

Applications

General IndustryPump flow proving with DP across the pump.Flow proving with a flow element such as a venturi or an orifice plate.
