October 26, 2019 8am CDT Serra Int’l Call-In Pilgrimage to the Diaconate As part of the celebra- tion of Jon Fincher’s diaconate ordination on October 3, his family and friends organized a pilgrimage to Italy to support him and visit sacred sites. Those sites included St. John Later- an, St. Mary Major, St. Peter’s, and St. Paul’s Outside the Walls, the Colosseum, the Forum, the “minor” basilicas of St. Cecelia and St. Clement and the Scavi Tour of St. Peter’s tomb. Another highlight included Mass in the Duomo in Orvieto, Italy which houses the cor- poral stained with the blood of Christ from the Eucharistic miracle. Jon’s diaconate ordination took place at the foot of the “altar of the chair” at St. Pe- ter’s Basilica. This beautiful Bernini masterpiece harbors the relics from the chair on which tradition tells us that St. Peter presided in Rome. From this chair, St. Peter, ordained by Christ himself, laid his hands on men in ap- ostolic succession.
