LGBT History Month grew from an idea from an organisation called Schools Out (www.schools-out.org.uk), a campaigning organisation of LGBT people involved in education. They took their inspiration partly from the United States, where LGBT History Month had been celebrated since 1994, but also from the older example of Black History Month. SERTUC is dedicated to ensuring interests of all LGBTQ members are represented and celebrated. Thanks to everyone for their great support for event held at Congress House on Thursday 25 February 2010.
