“But Jesus called them to Himself and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. "It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Matthew 20:25-28 NASU

“As they were leaving Jericho,

a large crowd followed Him.

And two blind men sitting by

the road, hearing that Jesus

was passing by, cried out,

"Lord, have mercy on us, Son

of David!” (Matt. 20:29-30,

NASU)

“As He passed by, He saw a man

blind from birth. And His disciples

asked Him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this

man or his parents, that he would be

born blind?” (John 9:1-2)

the road, hearing that Jesus was

passing by, cried out, "Lord,

have mercy on us, Son of

David!" The crowd sternly told

them to be quiet, but they cried

out all the more, "Lord, Son of

David, have mercy on us!”

(Matt. 20:30-31, NASU)

Christ like service results partly from compassion.

1. Jesus was motivated by compassion

2. Jesus acted purposefully

Blind men heard Jesus was coming.

Undaunted by the crowd.

Came humbly: “Lord have mercy…”

Had faith: “Son of David.”

We can receive Jesus’ healing when we are willing to cry out to Him.
