My 8 hours

• I helped out with the middle school students youth program at Park Avenue United Methodist.

Schedule• We started out playing a game with all the

middle high students, boys and girls. • Then the youth pastor, Mike Davis, speaks

about upcoming events at the church.• We then divide up into age and gender groups

and the older girl leaders go with the girls as well as the older boy leaders go with the younger boys.

• I usually go with the sixth grade girls and I am paired with another adult leader.

Middle High

• I dedicated my time to the students from ages 12-15.

• I taught a Bible study just for the sixth grade girls.

• The picture has my girls that I teach.

What I learned

• I usually work well with older people, but I have learned that working with kids adds a new meaning of happiness.

• The girls were very responsive to my lessons and discussed their problems openly.

SCARY!!!

• One time I had to do a lesson all by myself with the sixth graders.

• There was only one other adult leader and she went to teach the seventh and eighth graders.

• I was very nervous, but the girls were very kind to me and responded respectfully.

• Most of the girls are very smart and well educated about the Bible.

Mike Davis

• Mike Davis asked me at the beginning of my spring semester to help out with the youth and I was happy to do it.

• He is also my Sunday school teacher.

Other Community Service

• I also worked at a car wash for the American Heart Association.

• Our FYE class raised 500 dollars for a former VSU student that lost an infant due to heart complications.

• Community Service has taught me to help out in the community and to make a difference in someone's live.
