IN 2018, 61 PERCENT OF SERVICE PROVIDERS SAID THEY MONITORED OUTBOUND AND CROSS-BOUND ATTACKS, UP FROM THE 52 PERCENT. With the growing importance of cloud-based services to enterprises and consumers, attackers are increasingly targeting these services with DDoS attacks. 2 IMPORTANCE OF CLOUD For the first time ever, a DDoS attack topped 1 Tbps in size. A few days later, a 1.7 Tbps attack was recorded. 3 THE TERABYTE ERA The most common DDoS motivations, once again, are criminals demonstrating their capabilities and online-gaming related attacks.
