Amos 5.6-7, 10-15 In the passage from one of the earliest prophets stands the tradition that there will come a day when God will judge Israel, for its worship of false gods and injustice of the oppressed. Hebrews 4.12-16 The word of God imagined as a two-edged sword is disturbing. God’s gift is expressed in the latter part of the passage, where Christ is depicted as our great high priest who experienced all the temptations that we face, yet did not sin.
