Late last autumn, EHP learned of the unit’s compromised condition and decided to step in to donate a com- plete refurbishment. The Frigidaire Cycla-Matic CT-150 dates to 1952, and features several unique details, such as frozen juice holders, serving trays in the door, and built-in compart- ments to store leftovers. Ed Ebersole, Frigidaire’s oldest active service technician with over 60 years of experience, took delivery of the refrigerator last December. Ebersole then began the painstaking process of determining exactly what would be needed to restore it. The most obvious defects were cosmetic, the left handle of the unit was missing, there was damage to the escutcheon plates, and the exterior needed to be restored as well. Inside the unit, various trays and tray covers were missing and three of the four shelves were broken, reported Ebersole. To keep the Frigidaire's new look compatible with the rest of the appli- ance rather than looking brand new, the search was on for parts from other Cycla-Matic models from that era. This quest led us around the nation, with successful matches found in Rochester, NY, and Florida. Ed restored both front doors and now they each have working handles and escutcheons that date to the original production period. The interior's missing parts were found and replaced as well. Although the light comes on when the door opens, the refrigera- tion system is still not working. The only part that’s needed to complete this restoration is a food plate. Pressure Regulator Hums or Vibrates

Models:

Problem:

Cause:

Solution:

All Gas Cooking Products.

Consumer reports a hum or vibration from the gas cooking appliancewhen using either the top surface burners or the oven.

Inlet gas pressure to the appliance is too high. This generally occurswith gas pressures of 13 inches water column or higher. This type com-plaint mainly occurs on a natural gas supply and is not affected with theuse of LP Gas, or liquid propane. During winter months, gas companiesusually increase line pressures due to an increased usage and demandof natural gas.

The pressure regulator has a maximum rating of ½ PSI (13.8 incheswater column pressure). The regulator’s diaphragm will be closed downwith pressures greater than 13 inches, which will cause an extremevibration or hum. The problem is not related to the pressure regulator.

Suggest that your customer contact their local gas company to checkthe gas pressure supply to residence. If the gas company can’t lowerthe gas pressure to the appliance; add a second pressure regulator(part 316113600) to the inlet gas line just before the appliance regula-tor, then set that regulator at 10 inches water column pressure. Naturalgas fired range appliances operate best at pressures between 7 to 8inches water column pressure.

High gas pressure to the appliance is not a warranty service call. The consumer is responsible for any house-related correction neededfor the proper operation of a gas appliance.

When programming a delayed time bake in the AM time frame to start inthe PM time frame, the EOC control will not turn the oven ON to begincooking.

The "STOP TIME" / "COOK TIME" feature does not work correctly whenprogrammed across a 12:00 boundary.

Software glitch in the programming of the EOC microprocessor.

A Service Only EOC control is available to correct this issue. See the chart below for the proper part number.

Electrolux ICON Refrigerator: ‘Clicking Sound’

All Electrolux ICON Refrigerators.

The Counter Depth Icon model refrigerator with the stainless steel toegrill is making a clicking sound when the door is opened and closed.

The screws holding the door stop or the door stop itself is dragging onthe toe grill. (See Figure 2)

There will be two changes coming to production. The screws holding thedoor stop will change from a 1/4 hex head to a shallow head screw. Theopening in the toe grill at the hinge will be opened up to give the doorstop itself additional room. But until the changes are made you can cor-rect the problem when installing the toe grill. First install the grill thenloosen the screws 2 to 3 turns, now shift the grill to the right in the slot-ted holes. (See Figure 3) Next push down on the front of the grill, andretighten the screws. Open and close the freezer and food door check-ing to see that the door stop and door stop screws are clearing the grill.

New Pump Seal comes on a ‘Shipping Sleeve’

Fits all current production 18” models.

The shaft that comes with the new seal (p/n 154387601) is not longenough or it does not have the hole for the mounting screw.

The shaft that the new pump seal comes with is a shipping sleeve andNOT a replacement motor shaft. (See Figure 1)

The seal is removed from the shipping sleeve, then installed into the sump. The easiest way to remove the seal is to stand the sleeve on its long endand push the seal from the sleeve. (See Figure 2)

Moisture Leaking From Top of Console

All current production dishwasher models beginning November 2003.

Steam or moisture leaking from top of dishwasher console.

Compression of the door seal is very tight at the bottom of the door -which is not allowing the top of the door to seal properly.

The compression of the door seal will relax with time. In order to stop theseleaks, two small spacers can be added to the back of the latch assembly. This will move the door into the seal and stop the leak. (See Figure 1)

Parts needed for this repair: 2ea. 5300809968 spacers

Instruction for installing spacers

• Disconnect power to unit.• Remove outer door panel and console.• Remove door latch assembly.• Add spacers behind latch, on both mounting screws. (See Figure 1)• Re-install door latch; remember to turn screw counter-clockwise to allow

the threads of the screw to drop into the threads already cut into the plastic door panel before tightening screw.

• Check latch cam (hook), making sure it is all the way into the hole in the strike. (See Figure 2)

In some cases the door seal may need to be replaced to improve closure.

Clothes Dryer Not Properly Drying Clothes

Customer complaining of taking 2 or 3 drying cycles to dry clothes. Vent isclear, short and goes directly outside.

Not enough of an air restriction in the exhaust system to keep the heated airin the drum.

Add elbows and additional 4-inch pipe to the exhaust. If the exhaust hoodhas a 4-inch opening, change to a 2½-inch opening. Make sure the systemback pressure does not exceed the maximum manometer reading of 0.75inches of water column.

Electronic Control on Front Load Washers

All current production front loaders with an electronic control board.

The display shows error code F 04 which indicates the washer is not advancingthrough its increments.

Faulty electronic control board or motor speed control board.

Touch the STOP/CANCEL pad to clear the 'F 04' error code. Select, then start, the washing machine in the heavy-duty wash cycle with the 'Heavy Soil/Stain'option deactivated.

If the tub does not start turning while filling, or within 30 seconds after thewater fill is completed, troubleshoot for a 'motor will not run' problem.

If the motor is running, and the tub is filled, let the washer run for at least 6minutes. Measure the voltage between pin 1 of the 8-pin connector (J11)and pin 7 of the 7-pin connector (J6). The voltage should be below 50 VACwhen the timer advance is off, and line voltage (voltage at the outlet) whenthe timer advance is on. If the voltmeter reading is different for these tworeadings, the electronic control board is defective. If the meter reading doesnot change between these two readings, the motor speed control is defective.

The replacement motor speed control MUST be a Generation 2 style (134149200,134306000, or a later sub). If the Generation 1 style motor speed controlboard is installed, certain cycles and spin speeds may not function correctly.

EHP Service Bulletin:Tell Us What You Think

Service AAnnouncementEHPEHP needs your help. In order to substantially improve

the quality of our finished goods, EHP must analyze componentpart failures within the warranty period. This effort requires closerconnectivity between our service community and the supply base.

Therefore, we are asking service technicians to help us byreturning specific parts, that fail in the field to the appropriatefactory for testing. You can easily identify which parts need tobe returned to EHP. The replacement parts will come with a

prepaid FedEx shipping label that will allow you to ship theold, failed part back to EHP.

It is very important that these parts are returned with acopy of the service invoice included and/or the questionnairesent with the replacement is filled out. Be sure to use the pre-paid FedEx shipping label provided by EHP, because not allparts are returned to the same location. Thank you for yourhelp in this very important project to improve product quality.
