Did you know? California laws (AB 341 and AB 1826) require most apartment and condo complexes to have a recycling program for both common household recyclables and organics (e.g. yard trimmings). To help you comply, Republic Services offers these services for your complex at no additional cost (as part of your garbage service fee).

Apartment and Condominium Recycling

To make recycling easier for you, handy reusable recycling totes are available to residents at no cost. Contact your property manager for more information or Republic Services at (925) 685-4711.

To meet strict quality requirements in this new era of recycling, please make sure your recyclables are:

Food Scrap Recycling

Use the pail for storage before emptying food scraps into the green organics cart. Line your food scrap pail with newspaper, a paper bag, or a BPI-Certified Compostable bag (the only type of Compostable plastic we can accept).

Important: Biodegradable plastics AND REGULAR PLASTICS are not acceptable because they don’t break down completely in our compost process.

Empty. Remove any remaining food or liquid

contents from a recyclable item before placing it in a

recycling container.

Clean. Lightly rinse or wipe the recyclable

item to remove any remaining residue.

Dry. Gently shake out excess moisture or let the recyclable item air

dry before placing it in a recycling container.
