Automation
An Initiative of the
ZVEI Automation Division
Automation is becoming an increasingly important factor in ensuring higher productivity.
The continuing development of products, systems and solutions demands expert consulting
and services throughout the entire life cycle.
Users of automation solutions are focusing increasingly on their core competencies. There-
fore, they expect competent service from suppliers of products, systems and solutions. For
example, support is expected right from the design phase, during the entire service life
including updating and modernization. To meet these customer demands member companies
of the ZVEI are extending their services offering.
To achieve greater transparency member companies of the ZVEI have restructured and rede-
fined their services. They are modular in form so that they can be offered and selected in
whatever combination is required.
Member companies of the ZVEI will offer their services in the framework of the new structure
and definitions. A total of seven Service Classes (0 to 6) have been defined. We have iden-
tified these classes graphically for easy recognition.
The supplier selects the services (modules) fitting to the components and automation solu-
tions offered and includes these in the offer. Each module is assigned its appropriate class
identification for instant recognition.
The supplier configures the service offer to match exactly the components and automation
solutions offered. Therefore member companies of the ZVEI will not always offer all the
classes and all the individual services (modules) of each class. The service classes are inde-
pendent of each other. An offer of Class 3 services, for example, does not necessarily include
Class 2 services.
ZVEI member companies support the new structure of the services. When employing the
structure the companies will refer to these service classes in their offers and apply the rules
specified. In this way the ZVEI member companies wish to support their customers in
increasing the cost-effectiveness and availability of their plant.
