Program Review: Social Committee : Club Holiday Party
There were 3 games played during the event and the tables were decorated with paper Christ-
mas trees and candy tossed all over the center of the table. In amongst the candy were the items
used to play the games, dice, coloring sticks and pencils.
The first game was a table game where each table started with a blank sheet of paper with the
outline of a Christmas tree drawn on it either a triangle or a tree with indentations. Then with each
roll of the dice the member of the table did something to decorate the tree, did nothing, or had to draw
on someone else’s tree. Once the tree was fully done with all items that table won. There was a tie
between two tables and so each table received a prize for each contestant. (Our table received
snowflake ornaments and mine has now been added to our tree at home).
The second game was an individual game where you had to answer questions quickly about
the poem “The Night Before Christmas”. Luckily we had just read this poem the week before as a
group activity by President Cynthia. There were 20 questions and very little time between questions
and once all the questions were asked and appropriate time was given to complete the last question
pencils were laid down the papers passed to the left and checked and Sue Converse had 18 of the
20 questions correct, at our table Steve Sapp had 15 of 20.
The third game was a “Reindeer Game”. Two reindeer ornaments with two candy canes for
antlers were passed to either the left or the right depending on what direction word was read by Geri
Derner in a rewritten Frosty the Snowman story. The persons ending up with the ornament at the
end of the story got to keep the ornament and the candy canes.
Then to end the event Bill Boon told a story about the birth of their daughter on Christmas day.
The gist was he was working, got hit in the throat, lost his voice, went home, shocked his wife Phyllis
so much she went into labor early, and had their daughter the next day which was Christmas Day.
A good time was had by all and we got to take home the paper Christmas trees from the table
if we wished and mine are now on my mantle. The base was made of Hershey kisses so before they
are put away the base will be eaten and a new base added next year.
Editors note: I hope you all had a good Christmas and due to the Holiday season this bulletin has
been delayed. We are traveling this next weekend to Minneapolis to see the Vikings vs the Bears a
Christmas gift from our son Steve so the next bulletin will also be delayed. Hopefully only a day or
two. I will be at the meeting this Friday and I hope to see you there. If not have a great New Years
and I will see you next year.
PS. Thanks to everyone who assisted with Gift Wrap this year and helped tear down the booth it was
the quickest ever and just so we do not lose track of it “the Gift Wrap Binder” or the “G” key Geri
Derner took them and all the inventory at the end of the day. Thanks Geri for keeping track of these
important items until next year. The Treasurer Items were also taken back by Kris Meinhard to keep
for next year. Thanks Kris for also doing this important task.
