Getting rid of boundaries to achieve Single Sky

• Upstream/downstream bi-directional exchanges, with distant sectors as well as neighbours

• Real-time sharing between all interested partners

• Same level of information for all concerned actors

ALL THE FLIGHT INFORMATION IS SHARED

8

• Data related to a flight (clearance, route, ...) is exchanged mainly with next downstream sector

• Point to point exchange with no real time sharing between all the partners

DIFFICULTIES TO EXCHANGE AND TO USE

INFORMATION SUCH AS CLEARANCE, ROUTE AND

LATE CHANGES

Today’s operations WITH SESAR Solutions

Page 9: SESAR at World ATM Congress 2016 - InteroperabilityWac 2016 iop draft v0.92

Way to improve ATC safety

For any aircraft in my area of interest, I have access to all clearances given by downstream or upstream ATSU and state frequency

The ATCO can then “delete” this flight from his mental image

Safety is improved in high traffic density areas

9

4F HMI example (VP711)

Page 10: SESAR at World ATM Congress 2016 - InteroperabilityWac 2016 iop draft v0.92

Way to improve ATC capacity

Direct, route or runway modification

Coordination is immediate, easy and unambiguous

Common situation awareness between multiple partners is ensured in real time

10

Page 11: SESAR at World ATM Congress 2016 - InteroperabilityWac 2016 iop draft v0.92

Way to improve ATC capacity

4F HMI example during VP711

ATCOs appreciate this feature as a very big improvement regarding safety and situational awareness.

Page 12: SESAR at World ATM Congress 2016 - InteroperabilityWac 2016 iop draft v0.92

Operational conclusion

12

Allow seamless operations over boundaries

Ensure a consistent view of the flight by a disparate set of Air Traffic Centers

Improve airspace capacity while

reducing controllers workload

Tackle current limitations and bring additional

operational benefits

Improve safety through ensuring the resilient provision of

consistent information

A solution to cope with Core Area specific complex situation
