Current Project

Following a successful scoping visit in March 2015 funded by UK DFID, a SESHAA team in partnership with FIRE AID returned to the mountainous Central Asian country of Tajikistan in

November 2015 to continue phase 1, of their cooperation with emergency services in Tajikistan.

In September 2016 - The team delivered firefighting PPE and medical equipment to fire and ambulance services in the capital Dushanbe and to the main fire station in the town of

Khorog to improve resilience and emergency response, and to address some of the key risks facing the country.

The team now plan to return in May 2017 for the next stage of the project.

Between the city of Dushanbe and the Khorog runs the Pamir Highway which is classified the 5th most dangerous road in the world. This road is

a major trade route not just across the country but also between countries in this part of Asia.

Along this road there are many towns, villages and schools and unfortunately the death and injury toll is extremely high.

In May 2017 it is proposed to take a convoy of 4 donated fire appliances and one ambulance out to Tajikistan by driving the 4200 miles from

Staffordshire to Dushanbe.

In addition, a team of instructors will fly out to deliver 2 weeks of Prevention and Response educational packages to local schools and

Fire stations.
