HOW

● 'How' es usado en varios numeros de combinaciones para hacer preguntas.

● Las combinaciones mas comunes son las que veremos a continuación.

How often

● 'How often' es usado para preguntar acerca de la frecuencia con la que alguien realiza algo.

Example:

● How often do they go to the theatre?

How long does it take?

● 'How long' es usado para preguntar por el tiempo que se requiere para realizar una actividad.

Example:

● How long does it take to get to Chicago by plane?

How + various adjectives

● 'How' es combinado con varios adjetivos para preguntar acerca de información detallada sobre un objeto en particular.

Example:

● How deep is the river? ● How wide is the platform?

How much

● 'How much' es usado para preguntar acerca de una cantidad en singular de una materia no contable. La pregunta mas común es: How much does it cost?

Example:

● How much water is in the bucket?

How many

● 'How many' es usado para preguntar en plurar acerca de objetos contables.

Example:

● How many apples are there in the fridge?

How about + 'ing'

● 'How about ing' es usado para hacer una sugerencia.

Example:

● How about having dinner with me tonight?

How do you verb

● 'How do you verb' es usado para preguntar acerca de la manera en la cual algo es hecho.

Example:

● How do you cook rabbit?

How do you do

● Esta es una manera divertida de saludar en Inglés. Es solo usada la primera vez que conoces a alguien y es respondidad con 'How do you do' o 'Pleased to meet you.'

Present Continuous Vs Going to

Para hablar en futuro simple podemos hacerlo usando las dos siguientes formas:

● the present continuous● to be (in the simple present) + going to +verb.

● Estas dos formas son usadas para hablar de planes a futuro. Sin embargo existen diferencias entre estas dos formas.

Present continous for future plans

El presente continuo es usado cuando decidmos que hemos planeado o agendado algo en un tiempo específico en el futuro. Estos son planes que han sido arreglados con una hora y/o lugar definido.

Examples:

● I'm doing my homework this evening.● I'm starting university in September.● Sally is meeting John at seven o'clock this evening in a downtown

restaurant.

To be + going to + verb

● 1) Usamos 'going to' para expresarnos en futuro cuando tenemos la intencio de hacer algo o hemos decidido hacer algo pero sin agendarlo, es solo una intención.

Example:

A: The windows are dirty.

B: Yes I know. I'm going to clean them later. (I've decided to clean them ,but I haven't arranged to clean them.)

● 2) Tambien usamos 'going to' para hacer predicciones.

● Watch out! you are going to break the glass.● It's so cloudy! I think it's going to rain.

Messages with tell and ask

TELL SOMEONE SOMETHING

“Tell” es usualmente seguido por un objeto indirecto y un objeto directo:

● Has he told you the news?● Could you tell me your name, please?● They told me that they would wait for me.● She didn't tell me what time she would be back.

Phrases with “Tell”

En algunas de las frases que a continuación se muestran, el objeto indirecto es opcional:

● My father told (us) a very interesting story.● You must always tell (me) the truth.● John told (you) a lie.● No one can tell the future.● Can you tell the time in English?

ASK (SOMEONE) + indirect question

Podemos usar el verbo “ask” para reportar preguntas indirectas como:

● Rebecca asked (me) where I lived.● The guide asked (us) if we had visited the

museum before.

ASK/TELL SOMEONE + TO-infinitive

Podemos usar “ask” o “tell” para reportar ordenes o peticiones como:

● Johnny's mother told him to put away his toys.

● The examiner asked me to speak louder.

Describing changes

● Para describir cambios es necesario decir lo que se tiene ahora y no lo que se tuvo antes, las características fisicas, las actitudes, que han cambiado.

● Se pueden describir los cambios en los siguientes tiempos:

With the present tence: ● I am now a more sociable person

(Ahora soy una persona mas sociable)

Whit the past tence:

I were fat(Estuve gorda)

With the present perfect: ● I have taken responsibility.

(Yo me he hecho responsable)

With the comparative:● The teacher is more strict than last semester.

(La maestra es mas estricta que el semestre pasado.)
