Themicro-organismsmaybeclassifiedas:

Saythatfungalinfectionstendtogrowontheoutsideofthebody,causingdiseaseslikeringworm.
Bacteriaandvirusescausediseasewhentheyenterthebodytissuesandmultiply.Bacteriacanproducetoxinswhichdestroycells,whilstvirusesmultiplyinsidethecells,eventuallybreakingdownthecell.Micro–organismscanenterthroughthemouthornosewhichinfectsthethroat,lungsanddigestivetract.
Remind learners of the importance of identifying adverse hair, skin or scalp conditions before the hairdressing or barbering service begins.
Reiteratethattheidentificationofsuchconditionscanonlyoccurifthereisacomprehensiveconsultationwiththeclient.
Stressthatevenregularclientsshouldhaveaconsultation,astheconditionofthehair,skinandscalpcanchangedaily.

Discussion Discusshowtheywoulddealwitha situationwhereajuniormemberof staffasksthemforhelpandsupport followingthediscoveryofanadverse scalpconditionontheirclient.
Leadthediscussiontoincludethefollowingpoints:
• theclientwillbeembarrassed,asfewclientswouldgothesalonknowingtheyhadpotentialcontra-indications
• thejuniormemberofstaffwillneedsupportduringtheexplanationoftheproblemtotheclient
