CHIP CALCULATION GUIDE
DETERMINE:
1. Length of job in feet2. Width of job in feet3. Chip rate (28 lbs by normal estimate factor/starting point)
CALCULATE TONS :
• Length X Width divided by 9 = square yards
• Square yards X Pounds per square yard (28) = pounds
• Pounds divided by 2000 = tons of chips
LIQUID ASPHALT (HFMS2P) CALCULATION GUIDE
DETERMINE:
1. Length of job in feet
2. Width of job in feet
3. Desired shot rate of job (normally .38 to.46 depending on chip size)
CALCULATE GALLONS AND TONS :
• Length X Width divided by 9 = square yards
• Square yards X shot rate (.38) = gallons of oil
• Gallons divided by 238 = tons of oil

ORDERING FACTORS
• There are 25 tons per tanker load• One tanker load will normally cover 2 miles/one lane (15 ft)• Order oil 4 days in advance• Confirm order the day before• 1st tanker should be on site at 7 am• Order loads 1.5 hours apart• One tanker normally carries 25 tons/6000 gallons• Normally use 8 tandems with one spare• Oil is polymer modified emulsion CRS-2P• 2000 gallons distributor gets 3.25 pulls from tanker• Oil is 238 gallons per ton/8.4 lbs per gallon• Demurrage is paid 2 hour after scheduled delivery time. Pay attention to arrival
time. Call vendor if truck is late.• Have blotting material on site. Can be sand or crusher fines.• Have rosin paper on hand• Allow 25 minutes to load 2000 gallons• Tab every 4th stripe
