Wikepedia: Thrillers take place mostly in ordinary suburbs and cities,

although sometimes they may take place wholly or partly in exotic settings such as foreign cities, deserts, polar regions, or the high seas.

The StrangersThis film takes place in a holiday house located in the middle of a woods. This adds to the idea of danger as there is no one around for security and there is no where to escape to.

The Silence of the LambsI am particularly intrigued by a specific scene in this film that uses parallel editing. This scene takes place in the house of the antagonist which located on a fairly isolated street which again gives a sense of danger. In this scene the setting is made clear when we see a 180 degree shot of the area surrounding the house and this has given me an idea to so something similar in my film.

House at the End of the Street

This film takes place in a neighbourhood where a gruesome murder has taken place in the house at the end of the street. The idea of a murder taking place in a normal quiet neighbourhood could be relevant to my film as it is an unexpected setting and may surprise the viewer.

DecisionI have decided to shoot the film at my house as it is in a quiet neighbourhood which gives a false sense of security and adds the element of surprise to the film as the audience would not expect a murder to take place in such a peaceful area. The fact that my neighbourhood is very secluded is another reason why I have chosen to shoot my film there. This is because it creates the idea of no escape and nobody around to help which adds to the fear and tension in the film. I would like to incorporate parallel editing in my film which was inspired from the scene in The Silence of the Lambs. My house would be perfect for this scene as I want to mislead the audience and make them think the characters are in one place but really they are somewhere else and my house has very similar doors which will help me to achieve this effect.
