Main Characters

The main characters are David Rain, Elizabeth Pennykettle, Lucy Pennykettle, and Gadzooks.

Lucy is a fun 11 year old girl and is really interested in small furry animals. Elizabeth is the mother of Lucy and is the maker of the clay dragons. David is Elizabeth’s tenant and he rents a room in their house. Gadzooks is David’s special writing dragon who writes words or ideas on his notepad. David then tries to figure out what the words or ideas mean and use them in his day to day life.

Supporting Characters

The supporting characters are Suzanna Martindale (also known as Zanna), Aunty Gwyneth(or Gwilanna), and Gretel the dragon.

Zanna is a friend that David knows from college and since she wears so much dark makeup and dark clothing, people call her a goth. At the end of the story she isn’t wearing makeup or dark clothes and is no longer called a goth. Gwilanna is a sibyl in the story that tries to steal the fire tear of Gawain. Gretel is a clay dragon, and was Gwilanna’s potion dragon, but at the end of the story Gretel becomes Zanna’s.

SummaryA book that David has written is rejected by the publisher and he is crushed. He walks around in a state of depression for weeks. Surprisingly, he gets another opportunity to meet with a publisher and this time, with the help of a sibyl, he gets a contract. With this contract David has enough money to afford a trip to the artic where he hopes to learn more about the 9 polar bears that once ruled the arctic and guarded the fire tear of Gawain.

Review

The book IceFire is probably one of the best books I’ve ever read. It is exciting, interesting and fun to read!

I would recommend this book and the entire Last Dragon Chronicles to anyone that is ready for a long adventurous series about the world of Dragons.

Favorite Part of the Book

My favorite part of the book is when David is in Mr. Bacon’s study and is looking at the picture of a polar bear (Lorel) with Mr. Bacon’s grandfather next to the bear.

That is my favorite part because I can easily imagine the picture in my mind because of the great descriptions.

About the authorChris D’lacey is the amazing author of the Last Dragon Chronicles! He is a man that is interested in dragons and started to write books about them. He even made his own Gadzooks! When he was a little kid his pop would take him out on a sled in the snow. They would have fun playing together for the first half hour, but then his fingers would turn blue and frost would form on his eyebrows. He would get a little nauseous and want to go home. It was such a disappointment for him, but when he got older, he found a way around it. Chris is 60 years old now and lives in Leicester, England with his wife working as a research scientist at the University of Leicester.
