SETTING UP A WORDPRESS BLOG

How to set up a free blog in less than 10 minutes.

Step 1

http://wordpress.comEnter the URL address below inyour web browser

http://wordpress.com

Step 2

“Sign Up Now”Click the orange button labeled“Sign up now”

You will find the button in theupper right quadrant of the Wordpress.com page.

Step 3

UsernameType in the username you wishto be identified by on theWordpress network.

This is the name which you willuse to log in to your blog in thefuture.

Be advised, you will not be ableto change this in the future sopick a username you are contentwith.

Step 4

PasswordType in the password that youwant to use.

Remember to make a note ofboth the username andpassword you assign to yourblog, just in case your memoryfades over time. You will needboth of them to log in to yourWordpress account to updateyour blog in the future.

Step 5

EmailType in the email address youwant Wordpress to use to notifyyou of anything of importanceregarding your blog.

For example, this is the emailaddress you want to use to benotified when someone has left acomment or feedback on yourblog.

Step 6

Legal BoxAfter you have reviewed thelegal disclosures click theappropriate box to indicate youracceptance of the legal term.

Step 7

“Gimme a Blog”At this point you will be given achoice to set up a blog or justreserve a domain name.

Go ahead and elect “Gimme aBlog.”

Step 8

Click “Next”Click the button labeled, “Next.”

Step 9

Blog DomainWhatever you enter here will bepart of the URL for your blog. Itwill be what your clients will typein to their computers to find you. It will also be what searchengines, like Google, will use toidentify you.

Be advised, you will not be ableto change this in the future,although if you “buy” a domainname you can link it to your blog.

Step 10

Blog TitleThis is the title that will displayon each page of your blog.

For example, my blog’s title isThe Insurance Barn Consulting

Step 11

LanguageIn this box you will elect thelanguage in which you wantto write and publish your blog.

Step 12

PrivacyIn this area you will elect whetheryou want to make the contents ofyou blog viewable by everyoneor public or if you want to restrictit only to people you invite toview it or private.

Step 13

“Sign-Up”Once you have completed theprevious activities click thebutton to “Sign-Up”

You are not ready to enter theblogosphere and start interactingwith people on line.
