The Exchange and its possibilities after it• After a year abroad, many people think about the new
possibilities that will come after it, but they don’t know where to start.
The possibilities are:• Helping Rotary with Exchange and with its events;
Advantages: It doesn’t need the rebound to be an oficial member of any
kind; It’s good for districts who has only a few exchangers.
The Exchange and its possibilities after it• Disadvantages:
• There is not many bounds between the rebound and Rotary;• The rebound doesn’t develop a routine;• The rebound doesn’t get a wide view about Rotary
The Exchange and its possibilities after itIf the rebound becomes a Rotaractor:
Advantages:
The students begins to have a wide view of Rotary and it’s projects;
Disadvantages:Not extending exclusively the experience of Exchange program;Not sharing the experience with the exchangers that just started a experience a rebound already has;
The Exchange and its possibilities after itIf the rebound becomes a Rotarian:
Advantages:
Increasing the number of members of a Rotary Club; New kinds of professions on the Rotary staff; The Rotary gets “younger”;
The Exchange and its possibilities after itDisadvantages:
Money problems; Lack of experience; Lack of time for meetings and events; Indefinite personal life; The spare time is dedicated to studies, Universities, Jobs....
The Exchange and its possibilities after itIf the rebound chooses to join Rotex:
Advantages:
Extended Exchange life; Sharing experiencies they already had with the new Exchange
students; Getting to know better how the Youth Exchange Program Works; Using the Exchange as a parameter to make the program better; Having a better curriculum Developing the ability with organizing projects;
The Exchange and its possibilities after it
• Developing leadership and speech skills;• Knowing the Rotary community;• Having more understanding and an open mind about all the
kinds of culture;• Creating a new group of friends;• Giving and receiving new experiences with Rotary members
and vice versa;
What is Rotex?
Group of crazy-passionate former YE students who have been abroad, had a great year and are willing to help the inbounds to have the same experience!
Help Rotary with all sorts of events for inbounds and outbounds.
Rotex São Paulo
Founded in December of 2001, operates in the cities of São Paulo and Campinas, mainly.
Works with the districts 4430 & 4590 (EXPRO)
Support for inbounds, outbounds and rebounds.
Who can be a Rotex? Former Exchange students who’ve been on a long or
short term exchange.
A special requirement: not being an early return student.
Preference for students who have sent all the reports, participated of District Conference, Rotary meetings, social projects and who attended school and the rebounds meeting.
How to join Rotex?
Before and along the Exchange year, Rotex has information about all the current outbounds and accord to their behaviour during Exchange, they will get an invitation to attend a Rotex meeting when they come back.
Also, EXPRO give us information about the students’s issues so that we can help them with a different culture and different rules.
First steps Right after the rebound attend to a Rotex meeting,
he/she becomes a “trainee”, which means that he/she has to attend 3 more meetings and more 4 projects.
During this step, Rotex will be following how the trainee deals with the inbounds and avaliate his/her participation during all the activities.
When the student achieve all the meetings and projects, he/she will be voted to become a member on the next meeting (surprise!!!)
