Seven Things God Hates(Part 1)

Proverbs 6:16-19

Romans 5:8

God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

John 15:13, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.“

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

1 John 4:10, In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

I. God Hates a Proud Look (V.17)

A. Pride brought about the fall of Lucifer.

Isaiah 14:12-15, “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!

13For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north;

14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’

15Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the Pit.

Ezekiel 28:13, 14

"You were in Eden, the garden of God," and

"You were the anointed cherub who covers"

v.17, “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground…

B. Pride always precedes destruction.

Proverbs 16:18, Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

C. Consider the psalmist's example:

Psalm 131:1, "Lord, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes lofty."

II. God Hates a Lying Tongue (V.17)

A. "You shall not bear false witness" (Exodus 20:16)

John 8:44, You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

B. Lying began in the Garden of Eden.

“You will not surely die."

C. God desires truth deep within: an honest heart.

Psalm 51:6, Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.

D. Jesus said He was truth:

John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

2 John 1-2, To the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all those who have known the truth, 2because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever:

III. God Hates Hands That Shed Innocent Blood (V.12)

A. God's grief over this came early on

B. God's Law: "You shall not murder"

Revelation 21:8

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

C. God is pro-life:

- KJV - "Thou shalt not kill."

'You shall not murder!'

- God hates those who shed innocent blood!

D. Remember the death of One innocent man on the cross?

proud,

liars, and

taker an innocent life!

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Isaiah 53:5-6But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our

iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

6All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,

10nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Romans 10:13

For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved!"
