Montmartre is a hill that was named for the martydom of Saint Denis who was decapitated on the hill around 250 A.D.

✦Monmartre is located at Place de Tertre, a sqare in the 18th Arrondissment,
✦Metro: Take Line 2 and get off at Anvers. Then take the Funicular, a cable railway that takes you up the hill.
Interesting Facts
✦The Basilica of the Sacre’ Coeur is located on the top of Montmartre.
✦Many artists work around the hill in artist’s square including Salvador Dali, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, and Vincent van Gogh.
