(April 15, 2013) -- Improv Revolution (or iRev), an improvisational ensemble composed of undergraduate students from UC Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts, will present The Coup de Comedy Festival, May 9 through 12. The admission-free festival will be composed of all-comedy workshops, panel discussions, screenings and performances taking place over four days at various venues on the CTSA campus. The Festival’s confirmed calendar includes: Improv Revolution & Live Nude People* (*with clothes on) ONE NIGHT ONLY Thursday, May 9, 7:00 p.m. (TIME SUBJECT TO CHANGE) Little Theatre/Humanities Hall (Building 601 on campus map) UC Irvine Two Improv Teams (Live Nude People* [*with clothes on] & Improv Revolution) battle it out – or work together – all for your amusement to launch this epic COUP DE COMEDY FESTIVAL! This is the first time these two groups have shared the stage and it may be the last time – do not miss this incredible event.

Sparks to Fire Thursday, May 9, 9:30 p.m. Little Theatre/Humanities Hall UC Irvine Sparks to Fire will burn down the house with laughter! This show combines the worlds of written stand-up and improv comedy. A stand-up comedian will perform a set that will spark the improv group to create a fiery blaze of funny! Hosted by Brian J Hunt. When Brian isn’t improvising, he is performing Stand-Up all across the country. He is a grad of Second City, IO Chicago, Upright Citizens Brigade, and the Groundlings’ writing lab. Brian has appeared in numerous commercials, films, and short videos. Sketch Showcase Friday, May 10, 6:30 p.m. Little Theatre/Humanities Hall UC Irvine Up and coming comedic talents from Claire Trevor School of the Arts showcase their sketch-writing abilities in this RAW sketch presentation. ClownMa dell’Arte Friday, May 10, 7:30 p.m. Nixon Theatre (Building 720 on campus map) Claire Trevor School of the Arts / UC Irvine ClownMa dell’Arte is an absurdist performance collective devoted to discovering original, bizarre and enticing performance works enveloped by three terms — DogMa, StigMa, and KarMa. Our purpose is to reinvigorate the theatre, and provoke the community by inspiring play and destructuring the recognized. Stand-Up On The Spot: The Improvised Stand-Up Show with Jeremiah Watkins Friday, May 10, 8:15 p.m. Little Theatre/Humanities Hall UC Irvine Stand-Up On The Spot: The Improvised Stand-Up Show with Watkins has been entertaining audiences around LA since 2010. Comedians go on stage with no prepared material, ask the audience for suggestions, and create Stand-Up on the Spot. This is the only stand-up show where the audience gets to suggest what the comedians talks about. Get ready for improv and stand-up to unite!

Improv Revolution: Year 1 Reunion Show Saturday, May 11, 7:00 p.m. Little Theatre/Humanities Hall UC Irvine We’re getting the band back together for a ONE NIGHT ONLY EVENT. See where this organization started with our raw roots performing an all original show. Delicious Moments (2-Person Improvised Long Form) Saturday, May 11, 9:30 p.m. Little Theatre/Humanities Hall UC Irvine Ithamar Enriquez and Brian Shortall (credits include The Second City, IO, UCB, The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Arrested Development, Key and Peele, Raising Hope, Punk’d, SuperNews!,Miss Congeniality II and The Promotion) perform improv comedy that is aware of itself, and them and the audience and everything else. Watch Delicious Moments break down the FIFTH wall.. Stand-up Set Sunday, May 12, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Little Theatre/Humanities Hall Various stand-ups present their awesome comedy sets – concluding with a headline set by Ben Gleib. Admissions to all workshops and performances are free, however, reservations are required because of limited seating in each venue. Early sign-ups are encouraged.
