A computer class to be of- fered by teacher Bill Stowe was approved This class is limited to 6 students and will cost $25.00. The school must replace its driver ed vehicle. Capitan is one of the few schools that provide this class free to the students. An interesting item to come out of this meeting . School property cannot be used for private gain. The Capitan Schools have $285,444 budgeted for a new track and football field. The deal with the Forestry Service is yet to be flJ1alized. This is part of the $300,000 in grant money recentJy received from the state. The board heard a presen· tation from Solar Age of Alamogordo. This presentation was made by Manager Mary Lou Gray. Perry Hogan of Capitan was also ptesent. Other business on the agenda was routine in nature. A maximum of $500,000 shall be available during the current fiscal year, $300,000 shall be available dUring the fiscal year beginning July I, 1986, and $200,000 shall be available during the fiscal year beginning July I, 1987. Acceleration of payments may be made if director determines that the money is available in the Aviation Fund. Lincoln County is designated as fiscal agent for the Sierra Blanca Airport Commission. -Approved tax levies for the 1985 property tax rate as set by the Department of Fmance and Administration In Santa Fe c. The Carrizozo Woman's Club has joined with the General Federation of Woman's Clubs to focus attention on Celebrate Women, a belief that it is im- portant to provide positive role models who will inspire other women and encourage aU in- dividuals to promote exceUence SEPTEMBER 19, 1985 County commission orders two fire trucks ROSEMARY ZINK- By RUTH HAMMOND A group of White Oaks residents attended the Sep- tember 10 Lincoln County Commissioners meeting and asked questions about the proposed ordinance to limit grazing in portions of White Oaks. The commissioners ex· plained that when the ordinance is ready the residents will ha ve plenty of time to object. The ordinance must be published in the legal section of the newspaper and public hearings will be held with maps to show the areas that will be included in the ordinance. A notice will also be sent to Elaine Marks Funding for fences to control erosion will come from the sod and conservation service. Legal descriptions of the areas to be fenced must be included in the ordinance. Once the ordinance is adopted. it wHl not be enforced until the fences are built. In another mauer. com· missioners informed Oscuro residents that county road C-OOl was never closed. The road was discussed at the Augusl 2 meeting County Manager Suzanne Cox researched and found that the road C-OOl was made a public road several years ago In other business' -Morgan Construction submitted the low bid for ad- <iit ions to fire stations in Nogal, Lincoln. Hondo, and Fort Stanton Construction of a new fire station at Glencoe·Palo Verde was included in the bid The contract was amended to have construction on the Glen· coe-Palo Verde fire station built after the other additions are completed ThIs will allow time for excavation of the new site to lJf' completed. -The lowest bld that met specifications for two fire trucks was submitted by Thunderbird Fire of Albuquerque. The four- wheel drive fire trucks will be placed at Nogal and Fort Stanton fire stations. Financing for the two fire trucks will be obtained through bids at the next meeting. -Artesia Fire submitted the low bid for a slide-in fire ap- paratus. -Q)ntract for library ser· vices was approved with the New 'Woman of the month' Rosemary Zink, C.N.F.P., was chosen as 'Woman of the Month' by the Carrizozo Woman's Oub. Rosemary takes her job one step beyond that of medical examiner. She assists in teaching EMT training courses, is on Z4 hour call. for the ambulance and the Carrizozo Health Center, teaches CPR Red Cross courses,' holds monthly meetings with the Carrizozo EMTs to keep them informed on new information and tecbniques, and she has been instrumental in acquiring special equipment for the ambulance and clinic.
