One of his chief objections was what he calls “Defects in Christ’s Teaching.” One such defect, Russell says, is in places like Mark 13 where Jesus “believed that His second coming would happen during the lifetime of many then living.” Today, we turn to Mark 13. Was this a failed proph- ecy? Did Jesus announce a future event that did not prove true? Or, is there more here than meets the eye? Wednesday Nights at new hope

“Blessed is he ... whose hope is in the Lord”Psalm 146:5

Dear New Hope,

In 1927, British philosopher and avowed atheist Bertrand Russell delivered a lecture called: “Why I am not a Christian.” In that lecture he outlined reasons for reject-ing the idea of God, and specifically that he does not believe in the “superlative wisdom or superlatives goodness of Christ”. One of his chief objections was what he calls “Defects in Christ’s Teaching.” One such defect, Russell says, is in places like Mark 13 where Jesus “believed that His second coming would happen during the lifetime of many then living.” Today, we turn to Mark 13. Was this a failed proph-ecy? Did Jesus announce a future event that did not prove true? Or, is there more here than meets the eye? Whether you are a questioning skeptic or a committed Christian, the words of Christ have echoed through the centuries: “My words will not pass away.” Do you believe that?

You are loved,

Craig Trierweiler

Christianity at a Crossroads

Filling a shoebox is a great way to get your family involved in blessing children from overseas dur-ing the upcoming holiday season. Pick up a shoebox from the lobby table TODAY and return it between Oct. 30th and Nov. 20th. We had a great response last year by collecting over 1000 boxes and we hope to meet or even increase that total this year. Remember this is not just a “gift of a toy” but more importantly it is a pathway to lead children to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Operation Christmas Child is Underway!

There are a variety of opportunities to connect in an Acts 2 Community Group. Stop by the lobby table and check out all of the great offerings in small group format that run throughout the year. Some are for men, some for women, and some for young families, etc…all are for growing deeper in our love of God and our identity as a vital part of the body of Christ! For further questions, contact Pastor Eric Link at: [email protected] or 231-499-2141.

Acts 2 Community Groups, Are You Connected?

So much ministry took place this weekend (still more is going on today) in the name of Jesus! Thanks to everyone of the NH family that helped us bless the community through the many hands-on projects.
