About the SME Talent Programme (STP) The SME Talent Programme helps local SMEs attract students from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Polytechnics and Universities by providing funding for student internships. Food manufacturers may receive support for meaningful internships which have structured learning objectives and a mentorship programme, that is aligned to SkillsFuture Enhanced Internship guidelines. How can SFMA help you? The Singapore Food Manufacturers’ Association (SFMA) is appointed by SPRING Singapore to assess and qualify SMEs who are keen to participate in STP, and will play an active role in matching suitable student interns to approved SMEs. Contact us Students and companies can find out more about the STP at SMEs’ eligibility criteria At least 30% local shareholding Group annual turnover of not more than S$100 million OR group employment size of not more than 200 workers Offer a mentorship programme, clear job description and deliverables during the internship period Possess sound Human Resource processes and demonstrate commitment towards talent development Willing to participate in SPRING’s Human Resource Diagnostic Tool Qualifying companies are eligible for up to 70% funding support covering the internship stipend. How to apply? How to claim? Application process

Interested students can submit your applications via the online STP portal at https://joinsme.sg

Students will be notifi ed on the application outcome. In an event where the applicant receives multiple offers from different companies, the student will have the option to decide which company’s offer to accept.

The Singapore food manufacturing sector comprises approximately 865 establishments and contributes to about 1% of Singapore’s GDP.

With increased global demand for tasty, safe, convenient and healthy food, Singaporean food companies are investing in research and development to create more innovative products, enhancing production processes and packaging for better quality products with longer shelf life. There is greater emphasis on food science, technology, go-to-market, product and process innovation to seek a competitive edge.

Singapore’s food manufacturers are expanding overseas. Building on Singapore’s strong global reputation for food safety, quality and standards, more than 50% of output, or S$6.1 billion, comes from exports.

STP internship programme offers a S$800 monthly allowance for ITE and Polytechnic students, and S$1,000 monthly allowance for University students.
