Stage One: Filtration
The oil first passes a metering jet;
(1) Reduce the flow rate to 40 litres/hour
(2) Trap particles larger than 1 micron in
size.
Stage two: Evaporation
The oil enters the heated evaporation
chamber @ 95 ºC;
(3) Evaporates the water in the oil
(4) The water vapour is vented out
before it condenses.
(5) The oil exits the system via the
return line and returns back to the oil
sump via gravity.
The cleaning cycle continues and your
oil is kept clean continuously.

H2 O + SO2 / SO3 = H2SO4
Water reacts with Sulphur Dioxide, Trioxide to form Sulphuric Acid
The GLW system removes H2SO4 components Proactive, Pre-reaction
Effects of Water Contamination :
- loss of hydrodynamic oil film & results in excessive wear
- hydrogen embrittlement & weaken bearing material
- increase oil oxidation & premature aging of oil
- hydrolyze sulfurous additives, form acidic by-products
- lost of demulsifying agents, build up of sludge & sediment
- reacts with certain synthetics & form corrosive acids
- Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE Paper 881825) :“particles in the 4 – 7 micron range are responsible for up to 88% of engine wear.”
- Typical clearance of piston pin pushing is onlyabout 0.5-15 microns (to prevent solid being trapped in between & serious wear)
