Pool Campus Placement Drive for Cybertron at Samalkha
Group of Institutions
Samalkha Group of Institutions organized a “Pool Campus Placement
Drive” for Cybertron at SGI Campus on 12th August 2014 for B.Tech
(CSE/IT/ECE/ME)/MCA/BBA/MBA Batch 2013 & 2014.
Cybertron Technologies is a Website Development and Mobile Apps
Development company based in Chandigarh (India). They are in this
business for past 8 years. Their team possesses PHP/MySQL, CSS/
XHTML, JavaScript/AJAX and Mobile Apps Development Skills. Regard-
ing specialized frameworks and CMS, they are good at Cake PHP,
jQuery, ExtJS, Drupal and Word press work. For the past one and half
years, they have also started Mobile Apps Development for iOS and an-
droid using frameworks Appcelerator Titanium and Phone Gap.
For Cybertron, the recruitment process at Samalkha Group of Institu-
tions started with HR/Technical Round. The Technical Round was of
more than 1 hour which was followed by HR Interview round. More than
100 candidates appeared for HR/Technical Round. After this round of
interview, candidates were shortlisted by Cybertron for further process
at its premises.
Recruitment process was started through online registration till 11th
August 2014 through SGI web portal where more than 300 candidates
enrolled themselves for the campus placement drive and more than
100 candidates reported for indulging in the recruitment process. Can-
didates got designation as “PHP Developer”. Students of various col-
leges such as Manav Rachna College of Engineering-Faridabad, Hindu
College of Engineering-Sonepat, Panipat Institute of Engineering &
Technology (PIET)- Samalkha, N.C, Israna, Delhi Institute of Technology
& Management-Gannaur, GIET-Sonepat etc. came for interview at SGI.
The event proved to be a success due to dedicated efforts of Mr. Amit
Sinha (Manager- Placements, SGI). Mr. Rajiv Verma (Technical Head of
Cybertron) congratulated the students and thanked the Management
of SGI.

Pool Campus Placement Drive for CIK Telecom at Samalkha Group of Institutions
Samalkha Group of Institutions organized a “Pool Campus Placement Drive” for CIK Telecom at SGI
Campus on 16th August 2014 for B.Tech (CSE/ECE)/MCA Batch 2013 & 2014.
CIK Telecom is one of the largest telecommunication companies in Canada, offering High Speed
Internet, Digital Home Phone and IPTV. CIK is registered as a licensed carrier with the CRTC
(Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission) since 2003. CIK headquarters
is located in Toronto and has offices in Montreal, Vancouver etc. They were looking for friendly, re-
sponsible, enthusiastic, dynamic and detail-oriented individuals to join their Technical Support
team.
For CIK Telecom, the recruitment process at Samalkha Group of Institutions was started with
Group Discussion, Personal Interview and then Telephonic Round. Group Discussion was of more
than 3 hour which was followed by Personal Interview and then Telephonic Round. More than 50
candidates appeared for Telephonic Round. After this round of interview, candidates were short-
listed by CIK Telecom for further process at its premises.
Recruitment process was started through online registration till 15th August 2014 through SGI web
portal where more than 600 candidates enrolled themselves for the campus placement drive and
more than 200 candidates reported for indulging in the recruitment process. Candidates got desig-
nation as “Technical Support Engineer”. Students of various colleges such as ITS-Bhiwani, MRIU-
Faridabad, ITMU-Gwalior, CDLMGEC-Sirsa, LPU-Jalandhar, BPIT-Delhi, LCET-Ludhiana, KCET-
Amritsar, PDM-Bahadurgarh, GTBIT-Delhi, DCRUST-Murthal, NC-Panipat, DIET-Karnal, TIT-Bhiwani,
CGC-Mohali, NIT-Raipur, JUIT-Solan, PIET-Panipat, GIEU-Dehradun, SRM-Modinagar, IPU-Delhi, MIET
-Meerut, APIIT-Panipat, ACE-Ambala, ITM-Gurgaon, JMIT-Radaur etc. came to appear for interview
at SGI.

Pool Campus Placement Drive for HCL TalentCare at Samalkha Group of
Institutions
Samalkha Group of Institutions organized a “Pool Campus Placement Drive” for HCL Talent Care
at SGI Campus on 19th August 2014 for B.Tech (CSE/IT/ECE/EEE/ME)/MCA Batch 2013 & 2014.
HCL TalentCare would be an integrated talent solutions company. The company would address a
broad spectrum of opportunities from "Employability" to role specific skills and specialization
needs of Industry across various sectors, such as IT, Banking, Insurance, Manufacturing, Health-
care, Telecom, Retail and FMCG. HCL TalentCare, would also be a Private Skill and Employment
Exchange to potential employers, employees, Universities and States.
For HCL TalentCare, the recruitment process at Samalkha Group of Institutions was started with
Personal Interview and then Telephonic Round. Personal Interview was of more than 2 hour
which was followed by Telephonic Round. More than 20 candidates appeared for Telephonic
Round. After this round of interview, candidates were shortlisted by HCL TalentCare for further
process at their premises.

Orientation Program for BBA and MBA First Year Students
Orientation is a new start up for the new entrants in the college so that they can mingle up with the
environment of the college. SGI organized Induction Ceremony for newly admitted students of BBA
and MBA on 19th August 2014 (Tuesday) at SGI. Faculty members, new students and their parents
were looking very enthusiastic on this special occasion. Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Goel, Director, SGI pre-
sided over the function. On this occasion, members of the SGI were thankful to Mr.Sandeep Khari
(Senior Executive- HCL Corp.), Mr Shailendra Mishra (Account Executive- Dexler), Mr. Rakesh
Sachdeva (Branch Manager - HDFC Samalkha) and Mr. R K Singhal (Manager-Marketing- Smartlet)
for making their presence as an Hon‟ble corporate guests on this day.
Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Goel Director, SGI, Dr. Puja Waalia Mann- Dean FOM & HODs of Faculty of Engi-
neering were also present. The Programme started with traditional lamp lighting by all dignitaries.

The students were introduced to all the key persons of the Institute. With the help of an Audio &
Visual, the students were also acquainted with the rules and regulations of the institute and univer-
sity, academic requirements, online web portal, book bank, ERP-SMS, student welfare department
and anti-ragging cell.
Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Goel, Director, SGI during his comprehensive and excellent talk inspired students
to achieve excellence in academics and transform themselves with the changing technologies. He
also told about the difference between wisdom and knowledge and stressed on smart work instead
of hard work.
Mr. Vishal Dora, Training & Placement Head narrated the students, the efforts made by his team
for their placements. He also showed the achievements of SGI in terms of placements through a
detailed presentation.
Dean- FOM Dr. (Mrs.) Puja Walia Mann then gave an excellent talk and motivated the students to
set their goals and strive hard for achieving the same by their all round development. She also nar-
rated the achievements of SGI in various spheres since its inception.
After then students were taken for the campus visit accompanied by Dr. Amit Sharma (Assistant
Professor-Faculty of Management) so that the students could become familiar with each and every
corner of the college. Folders containing Welcome Letter, Curriculum & Lesson Plans, both in Soft
& Hard Versions were distributed. The Programme ended with vote of thanks by MBA final year stu-
dents.

Samalkha Group of Institutions has organized Induction Ceremony for newly admitted students of
B.Tech First year on 21st August 2014 at campus of SGI, Samalkha (India). The ceremony was
aimed to acquaint the students with the institutional culture and enable them to adjust in the col-
lege environment and life. The ceremony was attended by gigantic audience which included Faculty
members, students and their parents. Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Goel, Director SGI presided over the func-
tion. On this great day, members of the SGI were thankful to Mr. Vikas Kumar (Branch Manager,
Cetpa Infotech Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Vaibhav Saxena (Senior Engineer, Design Tech System Ltd.), Mr. Ash-
ish Pallapothu( Head, Aeropprix Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Swapnil Khandelwal (Chief Executive Officer, Al-
maConnect), Mr. Manish Goyal(Sr. Manager, Huawai N/W Academy), Mr. Vishal Ranjan (Buisness
Development Manager, Ducat), Mr. R.K. Singhal (Director, Smartlet) and Mr. Pankaj Saini (Director
-HR, TCS) for making their presence as Hon‟ble guests on this day and they were honoured & cher-
ished by Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Goel and Dean- FOM Dr. (Mrs.) Puja Walia Mann. On this occasion Prof.
(Dr.) Praveen Bhatt HOD (Applied Science) and all other HODs of specialized departments and Fac-
ulty members were present to induce the students for future.
To care for the future engineers, a help desk was installed outside the seminar hall to sort out their
queries. Ms. Anupam Mann (Assistant Professor-ASH) welcomed all the new entrants at SGI. With
the arrival of the guests, Ceremony was started with traditional lamp lighting and Saraswati Van-
dana.
The students were introduced to all the key persons of the Institute by Dr. Sonia Sardana (Assistant
Professor- MBA). With the help of an Audio & Visual, the students were also acquainted with the
rules and regulations of the institute and university, academic requirements, online web portal,
book bank, ERP-SMS, student welfare department and anti-ragging cell by Ms. Vinni (Assistant Pro-
fessor, EEE). Researchers Team at SGI then inaugurated the Vol- IV, Issue –II of “SGI Reflections-
International Journal of Science, Technology & Management”. It represents the culmination of ef-
forts of many who believes in research work. The journal aims at both applied as well as funda-

Verma (HOD, CSE) who told about the short and long term goals. He also explained that Engineer-
ing is easy process during four years of journey by using the resources of our college.
Employment officers of Samalkha Group of Institutions Mr. Amit Sinha & Mr. Vishal Dora then ex-
plained the Role of Employment office established at SGI and its functioning.
All the guests were also motivated the students by their key note on various Technical and general
topics. Then ceremony was followed by a motivational story titled “Live Your Dreams” narrated by
Mr. Vikas Kaushik (Assistant Professor, ASH). In the end, students were accustomed with the Do‟s
& Don‟ts of SGI by Ms. Ruchi Prashar (Assistant Professor, ASH).
Ceremony ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Anupam Mann (Assistant Professor, ASH).
Students were then led to their respective class-rooms by the Faculty and made aware about the
syllabus of particular subjects by respective teachers. During the show, the Time Table, Library
Rules and Exam Scheme were distributed to the students. The event was successfully organized
only by the great efforts of dedicated and potential members of SGI.

A goal setting activity was organized in Samalkha Group of Institutions (SGI) for its BBA 1st sem.
students on 21st August 2014. SGI believes in setting up goals which can be particularly useful
and necessary in higher level groups. Self-evaluation is challenging but also very worthwhile for
everyone. Before starting up this activity Dr Puja Walia Mann, Professor and Dean Faculty of Man-
agement discussed about some key strategies to be followed for setting up goals. She started off
with brief discussion of what goals are and why they are important. The students were given time
for brainstorming about three of their personal, professional and academic goals. Students were
divided into groups and were given charts to present their ideas of goals. It was a very interesting
activity in which everyone participated with zeal and presented their ideas in front of their faculty
members. Nidhi and group secured 1st prize, Vidath and group secured 2nd prize.

Management Department of Samalkha Group of Institutions celebrated Green Day on 29th August
2014 for creating awareness amongst students regarding the importance of Green environment.
For supporting this „Green Day‟ students were asked to come in green attire. A collage making com-
petition was held and theme was „Go Green‟.
Students participated with great zeal and they blew the roof off by their enthusiasm. They were di-
vided into 12 Groups named as Green, Bottle green, parrot green, Fluorescent green, think green,
dark green, wood green, light green, sea green, leaf green, go green. Each group had 1 hour 30 min-
utes time to chalk out their ideas on the chart in the form of „Collage‟. Prof. Dr. Puja Walia Maann
enunciated the students about the relevance of Green Day. She described the importance of green-
ery in our environment. She also concluded by saying that these activities are necessary to hone the
creativity of the students.
Judgment was made by faculty of management & the 1st prize in MBA was bagged by Team Bottle
green where group members were Reetika, Deepak, Aakshit, Anish, Rakshit from MBA 1st semester.
1st prize in BBA was given to Team wood green where group members were Udhay singh, Mousam,
Vaibhav, Swati, Mukul From BBA-1st semester.
Consolation prize was given to team green where team members were Nishtha, Minni, Kirti and
Prince from MBA 1st semester and a special consolation prize was secured by Rakshit from MBA
1st Semester.
As a souvenir of green day, plants were distributed amongst students & faculty members by Dean,
Faculty of Management, who were motivated to take care of these gifts and plant more trees in their
surroundings.
Induction Ceremony of M.Tech 2014
Orientation Day for M.Tech freshers was organized at SGI on 30th August 2014 to welcome the
newly admitted students. All the students of M.Tech, faculty members and the guests were wel-
comed with Tilak ceremony. The event was started with the lamp lighting for paying a vow to God-
dess Saraswati. On this great day, members of the SGI were thankful to Dr. Rishipal (Professor,
Amity University, Gurgaon), Mr. Tanuj Negi(Manager Trainee Development, Doonish Group ) for
making their presence as an Hon‟ble guests on this day and they were honoured & cherished by
Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Goel and Dean- FOM Dr. (Mrs.) Puja Walia Mann. On this occasion Prof. (Dr.)
Praveen Bhatt HOD (Applied Science), Mr. Amit verma(HOD, CSE), Mr. Vikas Uttreja(HOD, ECE &
EEE), Mr. Sunil (HOD, ME), Mr. Shashank(Coordinator, Civil) and Faculty members were present to
induce the students for future. Ms. Vini (Assistant Professor- EEE) welcomed all the new entrants
at SGI. Dr. (Prof) Rajesh Goel shared his valuable experience with all the students. He discussed
in length about the importance of dissertation report in M.Tech along with the publication of re-
search papers in reputed journals.
The guest Dr. Rishipal, Professor in Amity University, highly geared up the ceremony with his pres-
entation on the Research methodology by citing various examples like that of Dr. APJ Abdul
Kalam, Thomas Edison and Faraday etc.

He told students to use innovative & creative minds to do the research. He gave the definition of
research which means reestablishment, creating something with new features and adding single
new feature to existing work. He also explained various methods of research such as Exploratory
(explore with help of equipments), Descriptive (describing any concept) and Scientific (systemized
body of explaining things). He gave brief introduction about contents of synopsis.
Dr. (Mrs.) Puja Walia Mann, Dean- FOM then gave an excellent talk and motivated students. She
took a candle problem by „Dan Pink‟ US Scientist and related it with research aspects. She ended
her talk by saying words: “A river cut through rock not because of power but because of its persis-
tence”. She highlighted the fact that anything can return back to us in life and one needs to be
honest and optimistic towards life.
Then, Mr. Vikas Uttreja, HOD, Electronics & Communication Engineering Department threw light on
the theme “Time Management, Hard Working and Positive Attitude” in life with the help of a moti-
vational story. He told about importance of Positive Attitude and gave tips how we could make our
life 100%. He ended his talk by a message that “Understanding failure is an event not a person”.
He enlightened many aspects of life which are crucial for achieving success.

Then Mr. Amit Verma, HOD, Computer Science Department then welcomed and motivated the
students with a Power Point presentation on Self Management- Set goals, Leave habits of pending
matters, Strategies of self management etc. At last, he also gave solutions about how to handle
distractions in life. He focussed on most important thing that we should take care of mind & body.
Mr. Naveen, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering Department welcomed and gave presentation on
topic: “Scope of Civil Engineering Works”. He also emphasized on Types and forces of structure.
Another guest from Doonish Group, Mr. Tanuj Negi also shared his experiences with the students
and classified various doubts raised by students about career planning.
The students were also motivated by a motivational video highlighting that obstacles come in life
but one has to overcome them by Mr. Vishal Dora, Assistant Professor, ECE & EEE Department.
Students were also made familiar with the key persons at SGI by Ms. Dimpy (AP, EEE) and about
the Do‟s and Don‟ts in the SGI campus by Ms. Monika (AP, ECE) with the help of Power Point pres-
entation. Ceremony was ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Vini (Assistant Professor, EEE).
Students were then led to their respective class-rooms by the Faculty and was made aware about
