Audience

This document is intended for hospital staff. It is assumed that the reader has a working understanding of DICOM.

Remarks

DICOM, by itself, does not guarantee interoperability. However, the Conformance Statement facilitates a first-level validation for interoperability between different applications supporting the same DICOM functionality. This document describe SurgiMedia's and DICOMedia’s conformance to DICOM. It is not intended to replace validation with other DICOM equipment to ensure proper exchange of information intended. The scope of this Conformance Statement is to facilitate communication with ISIS and other vendors' medical equipment. The Conformance Statement should be read and understood in conjunction with the DICOM Standard. However, by itself it is not guaranteed to ensure the desired interoperability and successful interconnectivity with existing DICOM systems.

The comparison of different conformance statements is the first step towards assessing interconnectivity between ISIS and non-ISIS equipment.Test procedures should be defined to validate the desired level of connectivity.

Sequencing of Real-Word Activities

All SCU activities are sequentially initiated in the user interface, and another activity may not be initiated until the prior activity has completed.

Association Policies

General The calling AE Title of SurgiMedia and DICOMedia is configurable in the user interface. The DICOM Application Context Name proposed by SurgiMedia and DICOMedia is fixed:

The minimum and maximum PDU size which can be transmitted is:

4. ASSOCIATION INITIATION POLICY

DICOM Verification (C-ECHO) SCU

Description The application implements a Service Class User (SCU) for the Verification SOP Class. It sends a DICOM C-ECHO message to a Service Class Provider (SCP) and waits for a response. The application can be used to verify basic DICOM connectivity.

DICOM Query (C-FIND) SCU

Description The application implements an SCU for the Query Service Class and the Basic Worklist Management Service Class. It sends query keys to an SCP and awaits responses.

Proposed Presentation Contexts The DICOM Query supports the Patient Root and Study Root Information Models.

DICOM Retrieve (C-MOVE) SCU

Description The application implements both an SCU for the Query/Retrieve Service Class and an SCP for the Storage Service Class. It supports retrieve functionality using the C-MOVE message. It sends query keys to an SCP and awaits responses. It will accept associations for the purpose of receiving images sent as a result of the C-MOVE request. The C-MOVE operation actually performs an image copy (no images will be deleted from the SCP).

Proposed Presentation Contexts Only a single information model, Study Root, is supported.

DICOM Storage (C-STORE) SCP

Description The application implements a Service Class Provider (SCP) for the Storage Service Class. It listens on a specific TCP/IP port for incoming association requests from a Storage SCU and can receive images according to the Storage Service Class. Received images will normally be stored in files (within the current working directory). The ISIS_StoreSCP application also supports the Verification Service Class as an SCP.
