• FXV-BY: Fixed Orifice Valve with Bypass
• Internally controlled two-stage expansion device
• Two ports, assembly between IHX outlet and evaporator inlet
• Low pressure burst device can be integrated
• Valve available in different connection technologies
• Very robust design, three different valve generations were developed and tested since 2004
- App. 500 samples delivered to OEMs and Tier1s
- App. 30 vehicles were equipped with this valve technology, partly used in lifetime test runs
- So far here were no complaints with generation 2 and 3, in summary we had 3 complaints with the first generation

• pHP < p1:
Partial-load operation:
Bypass is closed. The maximum mass flow is defined and fixed by the orifice.
• p1 < pHP < p2:
Full-load operation:
Depending on pHP Bypass is opening up until max stroke.Mass flow can be increased significantly up to m2.
• pHP > p2:
Bypass stroke limitation and therefore maximum flow section is achieved and can not be increased further more.

• HPCV: High Pressure Control Valve
• Compact design, weight app. 220 g
• No remote sensor and no signal transmission required
• The HPCV realizes three different operating ranges:
- Subcritical: pHP < pCr ≈ 7,5 MPaValve is working as a „fixed orifice“
- Supercritical: pHP > pCr ≈ 7,5 MPaCOP-optimized high pressure control
- High pressure limitationSafety function e.g. at a standstill pressure of 9,0 MPa(T ≈ 54°C at 260 g/l)

Characteristics:
• Valve position is depending on pressure value
– flow section is adjusted in case of fast mass flow increase
– Only small flow section is provided in case of high pressure differences (>50 bar)
• High accuracy in particular at lower mass flow levels
• Mass flow exceeding 250kg/h can be realized
• Characteristic can be adjusted: Linear or progressive

• Member of the SAE program CRP 1234 – 2- Focus is investigation of material compatibility of different
plastic and rubber materials against HFO1234yf- Test results are completed, final discussion took place
on September 14 – 16, 2008
• System tests are planned on our AC System test benchin November 2008- NDA with Honeywell / DuPont is signed- All system components are available- Main target is the optimization of the expansion
valve in the HFO1234yf system- The required expansion valve design
will mainly be based on today’sR134a valve technology
