Bring your unwanted ceramics and china and collectively smash them with us – adding the remnants to an archive of ceramic shards, which will grow and grow over the 5 days of the installation for all to see. Give yourself the opportunity to relieve stress by destroying a piece of crockery or experience the smashing ritual as a celebratory act. Or just enjoy doing something you normally wouldn’t be encouraged to do… Free tea and biscuits will be served to give you the energy to smash the crockery into tiny shards and there will be free family friendly creative activities. We are Lucy Cork and Davina Drummond and Shards is a public art project for the Place, Space and Identity Scheme.
