ABOUT MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION® OF INDIA
Make-A-Wish Foundation® of India is a nonprofit organization affiliated to Make A Wish Foundation® International, a prestigious foundation which has 37 other affiliates worldwide serving about 49 countries. The Foundation is dedicated to granting the most cherished wish of children between the ages of 3 and 18 years, living with life-threatening illnesses, irrespective of their socio economic status, caste, race or religion. It is a Registered Trust under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950. Each affiliate works within the framework of stringent international policies and guidelines.
Make-A-Wish is the most preferred and highly rated charity with FOUR STAR rating by International Charity Navigator for 9 years in a row and thus we are a global brand and a pioneer in this effort. The Indian affiliate was established in 1996 and since then we have fulfilled over 28,000 wishes across 11 divisions in India. There are 11 divisions of the organization functioning in the country viz. Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. Its head office is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. On an average, we fulfill around 3,000 wishes per annum.
Power of a Wish: For children battling life-threatening illnesses, the joysof childhood are replaced with a daily battle for survival, painful treatment, medication and endless rounds of hospitals.
The fulfillment of the most cherished wish of a child, who has very little hope of enjoying a normal, healthy life not only gives happiness and joy to him/her but also has a therapeutic effect on the child. Doctors have often reported an improvement in the child’s physical condition, after the fulfillment of his / her dearest wish. A wish fulfillment makes a sick child believe that anything is possible – even the future.
Typically children’s wishes fall into four categories:
Wish to go… e.g. to a theme park, a sporting event, the beach, travel within India
Wish to be… e.g. a policeman, a firefighter, a chef
Wish to meet… e.g. a favorite Bollywood celebrity, TV artist, sports person or athlete
Wish to have... e.g. cricket kit, remote control car, kitchen doll set, computer, mobile phone
Volunteers:
Each year, volunteers generously give their time, talent and energy to fulfill our mission in India. The need to reach out and identify the wish of every eligible child is far more and thus leads to our constant need for more volunteers.

Dear Well-wishers,
Thank you for your over whelming support to the cause of Make-A-Wish India.
First and foremost, we started the year with a new board of Trustees that comprised of eminent people like our Founder and Managing Trustee Mr. Uday Joshi, Mrs. Sangita Jindal, Mrs. Neerja Birla, Mrs. Ritu Chhabria and Mr. Maneck Davar.
Growth is the key word by which I can sum up our performance this year.
Growth in The number of divisions The number of hospitals that referred children to our program The number of corporate that extended support to usThe number of wishes granted Amount of revenue we raised Approvals from credibility rating organizations and The amount we were able to use back for granting wishes.
More details about these growth numbers are shared in this annual report.Apart from growth, across the 11 divisions we were able to strengthen our teams with staff and volunteers, that helped us accomplish the above.
Going forward, we cannot just rest on the laurels we have achieved. This puts more pressure on us now to perform better. With over 100,000 children getting diagnosed every year with life-threatening medical conditions, the challenge for team at Make-A-Wish India is to grant the wish of every eligible child and work towards granting the 40,000th wish on the eve of its 20th anniversary in Sept 2016. We hope that support from like-minded corporate through their CSR programs and the mandate from Ministry of Corporate Affairs should enable us to generate additional revenue to achieve this objective.

ACTIVITIES OF MAKE-A-WISH ACROSS INDIA
WORLD WISH DAY:
MUMBAI DIVISION celebrated World Wish Day on the 29th of April 2015 at Tata Hospital.
Certificates were distributed to the hospitals and vendors in association with Make a Wish Foundation as a token of appreciation for their continued support. Dancing, singing, and musical performances by our wish kids enthralled one and all present. Wish Kits and certificates were distributed and a Vote of thanks was delivered by CEO Mr. Deepak Bhatia.
AHMEDABAD DIVISION organised an event on 29th April’15 to celebrate World Wish Day with wish children, their family members, doctors, hospital staff, volunteers and office staff.
The wishes of 20 children with major Thalassemia were fulfilled at the event.
In order to appreciate the cooperation and help given to MAW activity from all doctors, hospital staff and our volunteers they were presented with a certificate and a MAW T-shirt & pen.
JAIPUR DIVISION celebrated World Wish day with fun video games and delicious food. Masti zone sponsored the event at their gaming zone at GT Central. Flashy lights, Peppy music, array of video and interactive games and activities made children enjoy to their hearts content. For most of them it was a firsthand experience to play Video and HD Games. Seven cherished wishes including cycles and new clothes were fulfilled on that day. The children also enjoyed cutting the cake with World Wish Day logo on it.
COX & KINGS Cox & Kings fulfilled wishes of 25 children undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Mumbai on 29th and 30th of October, 2015.
Cox & Kings employees personally handed over the wish gifts to all the kids and clicked pictures with them. A magician’s show was organized for the children followed by delicious snacks and refreshments for all.

AJANTA PHARMA AND LIONS CLUB OF MILLENNIUMA wish granting event was conducted at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai on Sunday, 8th November 2015. The first half of the event was based on a Carnival theme filled with game stalls, banners, Balloon sculptor, Face painter, tattoo artists, the clown and Mascot Mighty Raju.
Being the 60th birthday of the Vice Chairman of Ajanta Pharma Ltd, Mr. Madhusudan Agrawal, along with members of Lions Club of Millennium, adopted wishes of 215 children that day. The wishes were granted by a Wish Fairy at the wish granting stall.
The evening event was graced by Mr. Madhusudan, family and Lions Club members where the wishes of another 35 children were granted. Mr. Davar awarded the token of appreciation.
“The whole world is not a wish granting factory. But there are a few, who can make wishes come true.”
DELOITTEDeloitte India believes in the cause of Make a Wish and has extended its support by fulfilling 21 wishes on 27th November, 2015 at Sion Hospital, Mumbai.
The children enjoyed showcasing their creative and artistic side with a pot painting activity.
A clown then wowed the audience with his entertaining juggling and balancing acts. The kids enjoyed participating in games like Pass the Parcel and Bombing the City.
The Wish granting event then commenced and the volunteers gave the gifts to the eager kids. Refreshments were served and a group photo session captured the happy smiling faces of all present.
STERLINGSterling Back check - India celebrated Women’s Day by granting wishes of 5 girl children from Make-A-Wish India.

LUBRIZOLLubrizol adopted the wishes of 28 children at an event organized at Kidzania in R- City, Ghatkopar. The kids were very excited to try the different games and activities out there.
They had a jolly time dressing up as pilots, dabbawallas, and painters and danced to the songs played at party hub.
The wishes were then granted by the employees of Lubrizol. The parents were happy to see the kids enjoying themselves.
In another event, Lubrizol granted the wishes of 7 children on 16th October, 2015 at their office. The team provided lab coats to the kids and parents and escorted everyone to their laboratory where scientists showed everyone how a Lubrizol solution helps in preparing various ointments and tablets and demonstrated how they make gels of different colors.
To add to the joy and amusement of the kids a spray painting activity and pottery decoration session had been arranged.
The wish children were surprised with goodies like chocolates and sachets of gels.
Their wishes were then personally fulfilled by Mr. Matt and the delightful evening came to an end with a photo session.
WESTIN The Westin Mumbai Garden City hosted a New Year’s Party to make 2015-16 a memorable year for our wish kids. We thank Mr. Ashish and the team for making it so very special and help us grant 17 wishes on the first day of the New Year.
ATCSAdvanced Technology Consulting solutions- (ATCS) is an established business consulting firm specializing in the Automotive and Healthcare sectors every year adopts wishes on its founders Day. Mr. Manish Krishnan, Director ATCS has been a regular supporter with Make A Wish, Jaipur since 4 years.
On the founders Day, ATCS adopted wishes of 7 children. The wish kids were invited on the founder’s day celebration where Mr. Krishnan along with his Wife handed over the wish gifts to the Wish Kids.

LARSEN & TOUBROPrayas Trust by Larsen & Toubro Ahmedabad supported MAWFI - Ahmedabad Division to fulfill 16 wishes with CSR funding
We fulfilled 16 wishes in the presence of Mr. S.H. Vora, Regional Manager L & T and Staff of L & T on 11/9/2015
KOLKATA DIVISIONTo spread love and joy in Christmas, on 31st December, 15, we fulfilled wishes 40 children. A group of 6 volunteers along with the Make-A-Wish family, welcomed wish kids to a hall full of balloons, refreshment, and smiling faces.
The celebrations started with Santa Claus distributing candies to the children while Christmas carols played.
The kids enjoyed participating in a drawing competition and to conclude the event, the donor- Mr..Indranil Chowdhury handed over the wish gifts to each child. The kids were extremely happy and they kept thanking all for granting their wishes.
Calcutta Medical College on 8th May, 15 – In an event organized on 8th May 2015- Thalassemia Day 18 wishes were granted. Make a Wish representatives also participated in a rally against Thalassemia

We have tied up with Corporates namely CISCO and Aditya Birla Money Ltd. Employees from CISCO and from Aditya Birla have adopted and sponsored wishes of Children on a monthly basis. We have also received CSR funding from PPN power generating Pvt Ltd.
Wish Fulfilment at Model School for Muscular Dystrophy
The wishes of 16 children suffering from Muscular Dystrophy were fulfilled at the premises of Model School
Dr. Suresh along with Mrs. Margarete, a teacher by profession, who was visiting India from Netherlands were also present for the wish granting and the wish items were given away by her.
Tea and refreshments were arranged for all.
The kids were delighted to see their wish gifts and cheered one another as each accepted their gift eagerly.
FUND RAISING EVENTThe Chennai division celebrated their 1st Anniversary on 25th July 2015 at the Ambassador Hotel with a gathering of over 300 people comprising wish kids, their families, volunteers, doctors, well-wishers, donors, and sponsors. The event was anchored by Murli Krishnan who is a percussionist and a music teacher. Eminent personalities: actress Khushboo, Dr. Preetha Reddy – Executive Vice Chairman Apollo Hospitals, Mr. Durai Sayi – VP Corporate HR at Ashok Leyland and eminent doctors in Chennai graced the occasion. With support from local donors we got 10 gift hampers which were given as lucky draw to donors. After the vote of thanks, evening concluded with a stand-up comedy by Karthik and his team followed by dinner. We raised an amount of Rs.15,85,935 .

Sangita Jindal - Chairperson of the JSW Foundation, spearheads activities in the areas of education, health, livelihood creation, local sports development and conservation of our art and cultural heritage This urge to develop capabilities extends to the school for mentally challenged ‘Tamanna” that she has started at Vijayanagar. Under her stewardship she has reached out to young girls especially with congenital defects, promoted many self defense trainings and set up a non voice BPO especially for them.
Neerja Birla - Trustee of the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, Mrs. Birla leads the Idea Pratham project called “English Seekho” in rural areas. Mrs. Birla reaches out to the underprivileged sections of the community, endeavoring to make a qualitative difference to their lives. She serves on the Board of Pratham, Save the Children India, Akanksha and Muktangan.
Ritu Chhabria - Founder of Mukul Madhav Foundation which works in the areas of Healthcare, Education and Social Welfare. The Foundation helped set up Pune’s first Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in KEM Hospital. Working in and around the villages of Ratnagiri she saw a crying need for rural up-liftment which resulted in the Mukul Madhav Vidyalaya an English Medium School on the outskirts of Ratnagiri.

Sahana Sen, Program Coordinator, MAWFI, Kolkata DivisionIt’s been nearly 2 since I have been associated with Make a Wish Foundation of India. Having previously served for 15 years in the nonprofit sector, I thank MAW for giving me yet another chance to make a difference. During this period I have involved myself in the policy making and execution of different plans particularly covering RCH, CSSM, ICDS scheme. I was also involved in educating women of child bearing age regarding the importance of ante-natal check-up, family planning, birth spacing, maternal care, child care, adolescent life cycle approach, nutrition, sanitation, health education, etc.
When I first started, I had little experience of handling kids much less those braving life threatening diseases but now I would not have it any other way. It has indeed been a life changing opportunity.
It might appear as though it is I who works towards bringing our kids joy, however in reality; it is they who fill my life with immense satisfaction and happiness.
Pushpa Devi Jain,Program Coordinator, MAWFI, Hyderabad DivisionI have been working with MAW since 2014. It has been a wonderful experience of sharing joy with the wish kid and their family. Everyday poses a new challenge in front of me and my team and I enjoy the satisfaction I derive from successfully facing them. With a Masters and a PhD from Osmania University, I have taught for almost two decades and was the Principal of the colleges in the twin cities. I have also headed 7 branches based in Malaysia and Singapore and have won many awards and laurels for sports and extra-curricular activities. I have previously worked for NGO Spastic children at Manu centre and as a counselor in Thalassemia society to name a few.

11 year old Mukilesh from Coimbatore became the youngest honorary Pilot for the squadron based at Air force station Sulur on 8th July 2015
5 year old Nikisha is a devotee of Durga Maa and she wished to go to Durga Temple at Vijaywada. We fulfilled her wish on 31st August 2015. This wish was sponsored by Mr. Tarun Reddy.
No dream too big! Audi Gurgaon in association with Make-A-Wish India brought to life Saksham and Golu’s wish to ride in a super-car.
Mahendra a 17 year old boy wished to visit a mall. He was from remote area of Rajasthan and had only seen one on TV. On reaching the mall he was delighted and expressed his willingness to visit all the shops of the mall. When he entered Tony and Guy they welcomed him and showed him around their salon. They gave him a complete makeover. He said, “I feel like I am the Hero of a movie. I can’t believe I look so good and impressive!”
In the toy zone he played different games and won prizes. He also received clothes of his choice from Pantaloons and enjoyed snacks and cookies.

Child P Pranav, Mithran and S Vignesh Kumar from different hospitals are huge fans of Grand master Viswanathan Anand and they expressed their most cherished wish To Meet Viswanathan Anand and also learn few strategies and tips to enhance their skills. Their wish was fulfilled on 14th Sept 2015. Mithran and Pranav’s wish was adopted by PPN Power Generating Pvt Ltd.
Riyas wanted to meet his favorite actor, Surya. Surya is one of the most famous actors in South India.
Niharika was ecstatic to meet her idol Smita Sabarwal, the first lady IAS officer to be appointed to the Chief Minister’s Office, in person
When our volunteers asked 14 year old Mohin Khan about his most cherished wish, he promptly said that he wants to become a Doctor. He had a great time dressing up in the coat, going on rounds, and prescribing medicines (read gems) Mohin Khan was overjoyed on becoming a Doctor, even if it was for a day!

On Thursday 30th April, 10 year old Girish Sharma became Jaipur’s Police commissioner for a day!
Once he was ready in his police uniform, the car, with the red beacon of course, came to fetch him at the Make a Wish office with 3 constables as escorts and he was driven to the Commissioner’s office. As soon as he alighted he was accorded a guard of honour according to the protocol for welcoming a new police commissioner! It was truly a sight, as Girish stood there smartly saluting the guards and numerous reporters/news channels/photographers all trying to get the best shot of the” Little Commissioner!”
Then he was escorted by ACP Pandey inside the chambers of the Police Commissioner Janga Srinivas Rao who helped Girish take a seat on his chair and he sat beside him with the ACP standing behind. Girish also got an opportunity of issuing some orders by signing some papers. After which he was then taken for “inspecting” a police station nearby without disclosing to them that the New Police Commissioner coming for inspection is wish child Girish! He was also taken for a round to see where the criminals are locked up. His father remarked that he has not seen Girish this happy ever!
The impact of the wish continued when he was given a red carpet welcome in his village and also in school where a special function was organized in his honour.
10 year old Vinod Kumar wished to ride a Sports Car. We arranged for his visit to the BMW showroom, Faridabad on 10th April 2015 where an enthusiastic Vinod enjoyed his ride in the latest model of BMWi3 (which was yet to be launched in India). He met with the senior officials of BMW and learnt the features of BMW car models.
He thoroughly enjoyed his ride from Apollo Hospital to Faridabad Highway. After lunch at BMW showroom he was awarded a BMW Demo car by Mr Vijat Chaddha (CEO).
A flight through the skies!
6 year old Nikhil’s wish was to take a ride in a Helicopter because he had seen his favorite actor Mahesh Babu chase villains like that.
Make-A-Wish’s Chennai division fulfilled Nikhil’s wish on 30th August 2015. He and his parents were given a warm welcome by the airport staff and the pilot prepped him well for this flight of a lifetime.
“Everything looked like little ants from the height at which I was. I was sitting next to the pilot who was explaining the helicopter controls to me. What fun this was!” said Nikhil with much fascination. “He didn’t want this ride to end.” said Nikhil’s father.

The day the world stood still with attention for our young Officer of Law!
Jeet Bhanushali’s wish to be an IPS Officer was fulfilled on 15th August 2015 in Mumbai. A big salute to him!
13 year old M. Balaji and 11 year old S. Rakesh Babu had never seen an aeroplane or an airport except on TV and wished to travel by Air. With the help of our donor Mr. Tarun Reddy, their wishes were fulfilled. They flew to Madurai with a lot of excitement and joy and back home with an even more cheerful, strong, and fearless attitude to life.
Originally from Kolkata and nurtured in a musical environment, 10 year old Tania Pal always had a penchant for music. But her serious illness came in the way of her dreams.
When volunteers of Make-A-Wish India’s Kolkata division asked her about what she liked doing most, she said ‘playing musical instruments like professional Rabindra Sangeet artists’ and wished for a Harmonium. Tania was elated to have her wish come true.
