Feminist Conference in San Francisco, March 2007 Register now for the Association for Women in Psychology Conference. AWP is a multicultural and multidisciplinary organi-zation of feminists in all aspects of professional psychology (students, therapists, researchers, clinicians, academics, activ-ists). The theme for the 32nd annual conference in San Francisco, March 8-11 2007, is “Waves of Change: Beyond Duali-ties.” Sub-themes include women’s health, social justice, spirituality, multi-generational perspectives, and transgender is-sues. This is a very welcoming environment for students and first-time AWP attendees. One of the strengths of this conference is the informal discussions that happen throughout the weekend. CEUs will be available for California LMFT and LCSW as well as Psychologists. Some of the AWP traditions include a Saturday night dance, arts and crafts by women, book sales (publishers and Sister-Spirit bookstore from San Jose), author’s book signing, dinner groups, and much more. The lunch banquet’s speaker is Deb Chasnoff from Women’s Educational Media (documentaries about non-traditional families, bullying and homophobia). Invited speakers are listed on the website. Conference registration is open NOW through February 9. AWP Conference website: www.awpsf.org . More information about AWP is at: www.awpsych.org . What Does the Law Expect of Me? Part II

As a psychotherapist you have probably heard references to the "standard of care" or the "reasonably competent therapist," but you may not have a clear under-standing of how such concepts af-fect you on a day-to-day basis. Con-sequently, you may not have an ac-curate understanding of what the law expects of you as a psycho-therapist. In this six-hour workshop, which is Part II of a multi-course series on this subject, you will learn about what the law expects of you regarding advertising, scope of com-petence, scope of practice, confi-dentiality, child abuse reporting, ter-mination of the therapist-patient re-lationship, and forms of business practice. This is a lecture-format course that will satisfy the BBS's on-going requirement of six (6) CEUs in law and ethics.
