Apart from music, there are a lot of other activities like mountain cycling, trekking and cave exploring, among others, to enjoy the scenic beauty and the ambience of the surrounding silent hills. Festival goers also have the choice to camp right next to the venue. “We selected music that has soul and we wanted to keep it raw. Music should be what triggers emotion and that is how the bands and artists, were selected for the festival,”saysAtanu Buragohain, a music lover and one of the organizers of the festival. The Route: Guwahati – Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Kaziranga National Park – Numaligarh – Dimapur – Kohima – Manza – Nagaon Bypass – Guwahati Approximate Riding distance: 1400 kms Total Number of Days: 7 Nights/ 8 Days Departure Date: 2nd Dec 2016 Arrival Date: 9th Dec 2016 ( Guwahati – Guwahati) Trip Overview: While riding through any eastern Himalayan road in India, your biggest worry will be that a water buffalo would romp in front of you – but the closest call comes at the hands of a chicken. As you negotiate many kilometers of winding, disastrously potholed roads in Nagaland, below that on a relatively straighter stretch in Assam, you will bend on corners lined with tea gardens. As you wind up the hills of Meghalaya kissing the clouds on your helmet visors, this ride promises to be the mother of all rides. This trip is a combination of the Hornbill Festival at Kisama Village in Nagaland, with a trip to Khonoma Village, the World War II sights in Kohima town, and a village visit ride to Touphema. One Final Warning: Keep a sharp eye out for speed bumps; they are very often disguised as the road. They appear without warning or provocation. You can take to riding off the road and going around them though this is not al-ways possible!!
