When I went to school we had a three term year, so each term was an average of 13 weeks long. Im not too sure how we managed that, let alone how our teachers managed it. This week sees us come to the end of a long term, 11 weeks, and I am sure many of our community are looking forward to the upcoming break. As you would all be aware, during the course of the school holidays we will also have the opportunity to celebrate Easter. For me, Easter is the most significant date on the Christian calendar as the whole credibility and validity of our faith rests on the events that took place over Easter. The entire Bible points to and helps us understand the death and resurrection of Jesus, through which God enables us to be in a full relationship with Him. This year I have been reading a devotional book by Paul Tripp, New Morning Mercies. In a recent reading, he suggests five things we should remember when we consider the resurrection of Jesus. I think they are worth sharing with you as we go into this Easter season. 1. The resurrection of Jesus guarantees your resurrection too. 2. The resurrection tells you what Jesus is doing now. In spite of how it may appear at times, the world is not out of control, but rather it is under the control of the One who won the battle over sin and death. 3. The resurrection promises you all the grace you need between Jesusresurrection and yours. 4. The resurrection of Jesus motivates you to do what is right, no matter what you are facing. 5. The resurrection tells you that you always have reason for thanks. If you want to explore these ideas further, then I encourage you to read 1 Corinthians 15 and 2 Corinthians 4. This time of year is also a good opportunity to read one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John) and revisit the story of Jesuslife and the events leading up to and including His death and resurrection. As this term comes to a close, I trust you all will enjoy a safe and refreshing break and my prayer is that God might reveal Himself to you in a new and exciting way as you consider the significance of the Easter story. When I went to school we had a three term year, so each term was

an average of 13 weeks long. I’m not too sure how we managed

that, let alone how our teachers managed it. This week sees us

come to the end of a long term, 11 weeks, and I am sure many of

our community are looking forward to the upcoming break.

As you would all be aware, during the course of the school holidays we will also

have the opportunity to celebrate Easter. For me, Easter is the most significant

date on the Christian calendar as the whole credibility and validity of our faith rests

on the events that took place over Easter. The entire Bible points to and helps us

understand the death and resurrection of Jesus, through which God enables us to

be in a full relationship with Him.

This year I have been reading a devotional book by Paul Tripp, New Morning Mercies. In a recent reading, he suggests five things we should remember when

we consider the resurrection of Jesus. I think they are worth sharing with you as

we go into this Easter season.

1. The resurrection of Jesus guarantees your resurrection too. 2. The resurrection tells you what Jesus is doing now. In spite of how it may

appear at times, the world is not out of control, but rather it is under the control of the One who won the battle over sin and death.

3. The resurrection promises you all the grace you need between Jesus’ resurrection and yours.

4. The resurrection of Jesus motivates you to do what is right, no matter what you are facing.

5. The resurrection tells you that you always have reason for thanks.

If you want to explore these ideas further, then I encourage you to read 1

Corinthians 15 and 2 Corinthians 4. This time of year is also a good opportunity to

read one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John) and revisit the story of

Jesus’ life and the events leading up to and including His death and resurrection.

As this term comes to a close, I trust you all will enjoy a safe and refreshing break

and my prayer is that God might reveal Himself to you in a new and exciting way

as you consider the significance of the Easter story.

God bless,

Mr Liney

Pray for our local Churches as they prepare their Easter Services and share the message of God’s love

and grace for us all. Also pray for those who will attend Easter Services who may not yet know the

Lord - pray that they will draw closer to Him and accept His salvation.

Please continue to pray for our Year 12 students who have commenced their Half Yearly

Examinations. Pray that they can apply the skills they have learnt during class and that they will seek

God’s peace and comfort as they sit the exams.

Pray for God’s safety and protection over our students, families, staff and school grounds over the

holidays. Pray that the break from school will be a time of rest and time to spend with our loved ones.

Pray for the ANZAC Services which will take place during the school holidays. Pray that they will

honour the service men and women who fought for this country.

Greetings parents and friends of Junior School.

Thank you for your patience around our postponed Cross Country Carnival. We have

rescheduled the event for Thursday 16th May (Week 3, Term 2). This is in the same fortnight

as NAPLAN, but we have enough flexibility with the Online NAPLAN timeline to avoid a clash.

We are also taking into consideration sore limbs and physically tired students, so we will

avoid Friday 17th May for Junior School NAPLAN testing.

Band Camp was amazing. Congratulations to Mrs Katie Worboys and Mr Greg Derry for organising and

supervising the event. The Camp Concert was excellent and very well attended by our loving parents; we

even had some grandparents join us. One of the most exciting aspects of the camp was watching the

Secondary School students mentoring and encouraging our young musos. Mrs Worboys was so excited

when the students started spontaneous worship around the camp fire on Thursday evening. What a

blessing and what a powerful witness for our young disciples. It is encouraging to see the future of our faith

secure in the hands of the next generation. Praise God.

Crazy Hair Day is fast approaching and scheduled for this Wednesday 10th April. Please don’t be pressured

into spending a lot of money on wigs and spray colours. We are simply raising money for charity in a fun

way, with a gold coin donation. Our concert will commence at 1:05pm and you are cordially invited to join

us for lunch on the B Block veranda. The Year 6 Events Team and Mrs Smithers have been running

auditions for the last few weeks and preparing the run sheet for an absolute extravaganza of student talent.

Years 3 & 4 are off to the Royal Easter Show for a Science Excursion in the Exhibition Hall. It does sound

like a junket, but I have been assured that the event is Outcomes Based and the rides and vendors are not

operating.

Friday 12th April will be a big event day at school. We have our Celebration Assembly at 9am in the MPC and

then our Secondary School have their Celebration Assembly after recess. After the assemblies, we will be

finishing the term with our Easter Service at 2pm in the MPC. You are cordially invited to attend any and all

of the events on Friday. This will be a delightful way to send our students off for their Easter Church

services and school holidays.

Just a reminder that Junior School Parent Teacher Interviews are scheduled for Tuesday 30th April, which is

the first week back at school of Term 2.

God bless, chat soon.

END OF TERM

We have made it through to the end of Term 1. This Friday we will celebrate

the term with our Term 1 Celebration Assembly. This will start at 11:45am in

the Multi-Purpose Centre.

At 2pm on the same day, we will have our K-12 Easter Service.

We invite our parents to be a part of both of these events.

ANZAC SERVICE

Our ANZAC Day service will take place on Tuesday 30th April at 2pm. Once again, all parents are welcome to

attend this special event.

WINTER UNIFORM

It’s starting to get chilly, so it’s time to make sure that correct jackets, pants and blazers are being

purchased in preparation for Term 2. We have seen an increase in students wearing the wrong jumper so

please make these items of uniform a priority rather than writing a note.

NAPLAN

Our Years 7 and 9 NAPLAN Tests were scheduled for Tuesday 14th May to Friday 17th May. With the

rescheduling of our Cross Country Carnival to Thursday 16th May, we have rearranged NAPLAN. It is our

intention to have all Years 7 and 9 NAPLAN Tests on Tuesday 14th May and Wednesday 15th May.

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Secondary School Parent Teacher Interviews will take place on Tuesday 30th April (3:30pm–8:30pm) and

Wednesday 1st May (3:30pm-5:30pm). These are a great opportunity for parents to learn more about the

progress of their child. We encourage you to come and speak with your child’s teachers so our partnership

in educating your child becomes even stronger.

Please refer to the information sheet on Page 6 of this Newsletter for how to make a booking.
