NOTE !The present instruction manual is concerned with the situations which, according to the experience of FLSmidth, are the most likely to occur. An exhaustive enumeration of all conceivable situations, which may occur during packing, marking and shipment of the equipment, cannot be provided.Consequently, if a situation should arise, the occurrence of which is not foreseen in the instruction manual, and which the operator is/or feels unable to handle, it is recommended that FLSmidth is contacted without undue delay for advice on appropriate action.

General Notes1.1 Object

It is the object of this instruction manual to ensure that goods delivered to the erection site will be traceable. The instruction manual deals with general requirements and does not apply to special cases that can appear in the order. In cases of doubt, the supplier should contact FLS.

1.2 DocumentationAll documentation sent to FLS must unless specified otherwise be in English and marked with plant name as well as the order No. stated in the FLS order. Documentation must NOT be delivered with the goods.

1.3 Package sizeThe supplier must ensure that the size of packages for sea transport is not less than ½ m3, and package size for container is not less than 1/4 m3, ref. FLS Packing Instruction 12951-08-3.0, 1.9.2.

Trace ability Marking

To ensure traceability, all finished machined parts must as a minimum be marked with parts list number, page number and machine element number before they leave the production workshop; i.e. before the parts are stored, surface treated or dealt with in a similar manner.

Special requirements to traceability marking can be requested. The FLS inspector will supply information.

Marking must be placed on a visible, un-machined surface. Please note: EXCEPTIONMass-produced identical parts that are to be packed in the same case must contain a tag showing traceability marking.

The said marking must be punched in steel parts.(Punch marking).

Marking of parts that cannot be punched must be waterproof and permanent colour in a colour clearly contrasting with that of the surface.

FLS Packing Lists1.4 General notes

To be able to control the large number of shipments normally included in an FLS project, it is necessary to be able to identify the individual packages and their contents. All suppliers must, therefore, issue a PACKING LIST, according to FLS standard, for identification and specification of the contents of packages.Submission of packing lists to FLS means that the supplier reports the goods ready for shipment.

3.1.1 Packing Lists must only be submitted in the WEB system once the goods have been finally packed, actual weight and measurement are known, based on psychical weighing and measuring.

3.1.2 Packing Lists must only be submitted to FLS max. 14 days before the agreed earliest delivery date.

1.5 Preliminary Shipping Information

Preliminary shipping information/preliminary packing list is ONLY to be supplied when requested, but NOT in the WEB system.

1.6 Packing in ContainerRef.: FLS Packing Instruction 12951-08-3.0.

1.7 How to complete a Packing list and Advice of Readiness document

It is important that Packing Lists are completed correctly and in compliance withthe content of the actual cargo.

Possible costs incurred by faults/deviations related to content, weight & dimensions between your final packing list and the goods shipped are to be borne by supplier.

Packing lists to be completed in FLS WEB PACKING LIST SYSTEM;

User Guide to be found on above WEB Site.

Shipping Instructions1.8 Packing List triggers shipping instructions

When FLS have received WEB based packing lists and advice of readiness, the supplier will receive shipping instructions from the Logistic Department. However, shipping instructions will not be sent until shipment is reported ready, see 3.1.The Shipping Instructions will include all necessary information in order to perform according to agreed terms of delivery.

1.9 Transfer to agent/carrier

To be able to identify/control a shipment, it is important that all FLS order and package Nos. are always stated on all shipping documents.

Dangerous Goods1.10 FLS must be notified

To meet with the international regulations concerning the transportation of dangerous goods, the supplier must send necessary MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) together with the packing list (to attach an electronic version in FLS WEB Packing list system – press the attachment button):

1.11 Marking and Packing

Dangerous goods must always be marked and packed separately and according to internationally specified regulations, ref. 12951-08..

Marking1.12 General notes

When handling FLS orders it is important to know that marking is divided into 2 groups:

All outer markings must appear neutral, anonymous and only be supplied with the information stipulated by FLS. All other numbers, designations, Supplier logos and any attached labels must be removed.

1.13 Marking of Equipment

All parts i.e. each item of goods must be provided with a tag for identification.

One item is defined as:

A single part.Partly or completely assembled parts. Identical parts which are packed together e.g. in a bag, sack, box, carton or bundle.

The tags are ordered by the supplier from the Logistic Dept./Expediting, e-mail: [email protected] - and completed by the supplier. The tag must be filled in using either of the following methods:

• By hand using a marker, that must be UV resistant with a permanent colour and waterproof.

Or

1.14.2 Various methods for shipping mark

The method for shipping mark used depends on the package size, type of packing, shape of goods, etc., and must be made in one of the following ways:

• Directly on the package.• On a plate of min. 6 mm waterproof plywood.• On a nameplate/label of 1 mm steel.• On laminated labels• When such labels are used, only the directions in section 6.3.6 shall apply.

1.14.3 Printing type and size

Hand-written marking must not be used. Exemptions are weights and dimensions which may be written in clear capital letters.

• Printing type: Arabic numerals and only capital letters.• Type height: Approx. 40 mm.

Deviations due to item size are acceptable; however, the letter height must be min. 26 mm.

• Template or stamp must be used.

1.14.4 Marking colour

• Marking must be carried out in a clear colour contrasting with that of the package.

• The marking colour must be waterproof and permanent colour.• Colours intended for marking of 'Dangerous Goods' must not be

• Packages must be marked on at least 2 side faces and 1 end face.

• Depending on size, the signs must as a minimum be fastened at the four corners and if possible between battens.

• Depending on the type of package, the signs must be screwed or tied on properly in such a way as to resist rough handling during transportation, transhipment and storage.

• In special cases steel signs can be tack-welded to packages.

1.14.6 Laminated labels

Note: The general requirements are described below. This type of marking must be adapted to the size of package, and hence it may become necessary to make the labels smaller or larger than described.

• The laminated labels must, as a minimum, be A3 size. The paper size must be adapted so that there is a distance of 10 mm from paper edge to plastic sheet edge, on all four sides.

• The printing size must be at least 16 mm.• The laminated labels must be fixed to a waterproof plywood

board using nails with a flat head. The maximum distance between the individual nails must not exceed 100 mm.
