Shiseido Co., Ltd. was founded to fulfill every customer’s wish to live beautifully. Shiseido’s history until now is a journey of diverse activities to help people live beautifully. Our belief will remain unchanged in the future. The Shiseido Social Welfare Foundation was founded as one of the commemorative projects in 1972 when Shiseido Co., Ltd. marked its centenary.

The Foundation aims at consistently supporting social welfare activities in Japan, and in particular

examining the improvement of child and women welfare from global perspectives,

and pioneering activities that respond to prevailing needs.

Today, it has become more important to consider how a company can coexist with the society. The Foundation strives to contribute to achieving a spiritually rich society mainly for children and women, and will walk with all of you in the future.

資生堂児童福祉海外研修Shiseido overseas training programs on child welfare

将来、児童福祉活動の中枢で活躍できる人材の育成を目的に、設立以来、欧米を中心とした福祉先進国の最新情報や専門的な知識、技術を習得するための研修団を派遣しています。研修団は主に児童福祉施設の中堅職員で構成され、その成果は参加者の資質の向上はもとより、研修の集大成である「海外研修報告書」によって児童福祉界に寄与しています。

We have dispatched a training group since our establishment. Our purposes are to learn from countries that lead in welfare centered on Europe and North America, master special knowledge and skills, and develop human resources who will play a central role in child welfare activities in the future. The training group mainly consists of mid-career staff from child welfare facilities. The achievements contribute to not only improving the quality of participants but also overall child welfare in Japan by providing the report on overseas training programs as a corpus.

自立支援事業 Leaving care activities

児童福祉施設や里親のもとで暮らす児童が、自立するために必要な社会的スキルを習得するセミナー等の主催および助成を行っています。2013年には、電子書籍『そらまめガイド』を公開しました。自立生活に役立つ情報をわかりやすくまとめたこの電子書籍は、スマートフォンやパソコンから無料で見られます。また、毎年3月には東京・神奈川・千葉の高校3年生を対象に「社会への巣立ちフェスティバル」を開催し、資生堂グループや協賛企業、NPO法人の協力を得て、「身だしなみ講座」や「キャリア学習」などを行っています。

We hold and support seminars and events that are intended to learn the social skills needed for children living in child welfare facilities or with foster parents to live independently. In 2013, as part of the leaving care activities, we released the electronic book Soramame Guide. This electronic book provides useful information on living independently, and this information can be read free of charge via smartphones and PCs. In March every year we hold the festival for children to leave children’s homes or foster parents’ homes and go out into the world, targeting senior students in high school in Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Chiba. With support of the Shiseido Group, cosponsors and NPOs, we hold grooming courses and career learning courses.

資生堂児童福祉奨学金 Shiseido child welfare scholarship

児童養護施設入所児童および、里子を対象とした奨学金事業です。将来、児童福祉分野に従事することを目指し、進学する学生の中から毎年5名程度を選考し、授業料の一部として年間50万円（返済不要）を上限に助成を行っています。資生堂児童福祉奨学生に対してさらなる助成を行う協力大学の輪も、徐々に広がりつつあります。また、海外研修を修了した施設職員との交流の機会を設ける等、当財団ならではのサポートも行っています。

It is a scholarship project targeting foster children and children in care who live in children’s homes. From among candidates who are to go to school, hoping to engage in the child welfare field in the future, about five people are selected every year. We support them by providing up to 500,000 yen a year to cover part of the tuition. (Repayment is not required.) More universities work together to support people who are selected as Shiseido child welfare scholarship students, and the circle of their cooperation has been gradually expanding. Also, the Foundation supports scholarship students in its unique way, for example, providing an opportunity to meet with staff members in the facilities who completed the overseas training programs.

本誌はグローバルな視点から現場で役立つ先駆的な情報を収集・発信することで、児童福祉の向上に寄与することを目的に1975年に創刊し、現在も毎年4月と10月に発行しています。編集委員は福祉分野における有識者・研究者・経験豊富な実務者の方々から構成され、研究成果の発表や提言の場にもなっています。

First published in 1975, this magazine has been published in April and October every year since then. Editorial members consist of learned persons in the welfare field, researchers and experienced business persons. It is also a place for presenting study results and making proposals. The magazine aims at collecting cutting-edge information that is useful in the field from global perspectives, dispatching information, and contributing to the improvement of child welfare.

児童虐待防止に向けたセミナー・イベントSeminars and events to appeal preventing child abuse

全国の児童家庭支援センターが開催する子育て世代を応援するセミナーや、児童虐待防止を訴求する「オレンジリボンキャンペーン」などのうち、毎年約15件に助成しています。

We support seminars that are held by nationwide children and family supporting centers to help the parenting generation. We support about 15 seminars and events every year including the Orange R ibbon Ca mpa ign which is held in order to help prevent child abuse.

子育て支援WEBサイト「はぐりぃ らぶりぃ」Child-raising support website “Hugly Lovely”

健全な次世代の育成支援を目的に、2010年に公開したWEBサイト。監修は子どものトラウマ、親子の愛着障害治療の第一人者で、国内外で活躍されているヘネシー・澄子博士です。

The website was opened in March 2010 for the purpose of supporting the development of the sound next generation. It is supervised by Dr. Sumiko Hennessy, renowned as the top expert in Japan and overseas in the field of child trauma and treating attachment disorders in children and adults.
