July 14th Kristen is a college student whose mother recently died. The sense of loss led to crippling anxiety, which made it hard for her to eat, sleep or study. She decided to aend a free walk-in counselling clinic offered by Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County, a ShareLife-funded agency. She found the session helpful, so she agreed to aend several more. With her clinician's help, Kristen learned what triggered her panic aacks and developed a plan to bale her anxiety. She now has the tools, resources, and support she needs to manage her day-to-day life.

Five Summertime Activities to Help Bring Children Closer to God
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
MOMS, DADS & GRANDPARENTS!
Would you like to help nurture a child’s need to love and be loved? Would you like to help culvate a child’s capacity to enjoy God’s presence in her/his life? Would you like to help children form a strong spiritual foundaon for their future? The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to the religious
formaon of children from birth through adolescence that was introduced in the Archdiocese of Toronto 40 years ago. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd highlights essenal aspects of the Chrisan message that nurture the child’s need to love and be loved and the child’s capacity to enjoy God’s presence in her/his life. It is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the Church, and the educaonal principles of Maria Montessori. We are looking to begin a CGS
program at St Mary’s and require a minimum of 5 parishioners to take the cerfi-cate program. If you are interested you can get more informaon at www.archtoronto.org/catechesis-good-shepherd Contact the parish office if you are planning to register.
As summer gets underway, parents start thinking of fun and educaonal things they can do with their children. Anna Boyagoda, Co-ordinator of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for the Archdiocese of Toronto, shares below her top five Catechesis of the Good Shepherd-inspired acvity ideas for kids on summer vacaon. 1. Planng Seeds Summer is the perfect me for planng seeds. As you watch the seeds grow, reflect on the nature of God's Kingdom and the mystery of life, and how these two things are interconnected. 2. Care of the Environment Summer is also the perfect me to focus on the "care of the environment," an important Catholic and Montessori principle, that develops concepts of stewardship and communal life. Outside the home, provide opportunies for gardening, watering, sweeping, raking. Inside the home, provide opportunies and child-sized materials for dusng, sweeping, polishing, washing dishes or sorng the laundry. 3. Baking How can you be like leaven in the Kingdom of God this summer? Take me to bake bread together. Reflect on how we must parcipate in the building of the kingdom, but that only God can bring growth. Are there acts of service that you can perform in your own neighbourhood that might be like leaven for God's Kingdom? 4. Outdoor Time Spend me at the beach or in the woods; look for delighul shells and rocks that speak to us of the many gis of the Heavenly Father. Ask, who has prepared all this for me? 5. Planng In August, plant a flower garden for our Blessed Mother in honour of the Feasts of the Assumpon and the Queenship of Mary. Try to find an inexpensive statue of the Blessed Mother that you can place among the flowers and plants to make it a true Marian garden.
