There is a group of friends who go to a house party where there are people dealing drugs. One of the group, Ryan decides to take the drug whereas the others, Sara and Jay don’t. My film will be based on how you come to the decision of taking a drug or not.

I will start of with the group of friends going into the house party where they then encounter a lad offering them the drugs. I will then go into how Sara and Jay both decline the drug but how Ryan is unsure to take the drug or not.

Idea 1 Basic plot – Split decisions

Page 3: Short films

3 friends – Ryan, Jay and Sara All 19 years old and in their second year of

university. Ryan will be the one who is unsure whether

to take the drug or not. There will need to be a lad who will offer

them the drug too.

Characters

Page 4: Short films

There will also need to be background actors to make the scene look real these will just be used to show the house party at the beginning of the film really

Decisions. I came up with the idea of how one split

decision can change you. To have a meaning to my short film I came

up with the drug idea.

Theme

Page 6: Short films

House that has a student look about it: small place with lots of empty cups everywhere and loud music will be playing.

Start off with a 360 pan slowly of the party and then cut to a close up of the 3 friends talking and having fun.

Keep the camera still and just have the lad with the drugs walk up to them.

Close ups of the drug to show the audience what he has.

Finally cut to Ryan to show him debating whether to take the drug or not.

Will be a student house which will be very basic and small to show the student life.

By using a small house I can control my scene and keep it closed to anyone else.

Locations

Page 9: Short films

A house for my house party to take place at. A drug – I would have to create a tablet or

power to represent the drug I use which could be hard getting it to look real.

A family has to start again when Tommy looses his job and their family home in the process, but their daughter is finding it difficult to leave her old life behind and embrace her new life.

I will start off with the family outside their old house with the ‘for sale’ sign and them all packed leaving it behind. I will then go onto the family in their new home about to start their new life. I will be using the daughter as the main character and have flash backs of her with her old friends happy and excited and then end the film with a low angle shot of her outside her new school about to embark on this new journey of her life.

Idea 2 Basic Plot – Back to square one

Page 11: Short films

There will be 3 characters Tommy, Kim and Bethan.

Characters

Page 12: Short films

Tommy (dad) – looses his job and has to move house because of it. He has to up route his family from their lives they know because he can no longer afford their lifestyle they are used to.

Tommy

Page 13: Short films

Kim (mum) – is Tommy’s wife, she has to change her lifestyle completely because of her husband losing his job.

Kim

Page 14: Short films

Bethan – is the daughter of Tommy and Kim. She is 15 years old and a typical privileged teenager who gets nearly everything she wants. She is quite popular in her school and has a close-knit group of friends there.

Bethan

Page 15: Short films

Background characters – there would be a group of girls to play Bethan’s old friends from her original school. There would also be new students at her new school, which would be mixed, and a range of ages to as that’s what is in an actual school.

New beginnings. I came up with the idea of how people’s

situations change and they have to start again with a new life.

I choose to use a family who had lost their main income by the dad losing his job and how this impacts on their life.

Theme

Page 17: Short films

Start off with a close up of boxes with a hand putting things in to show people packing.

Then I will cut to a shot of a for sale sign. Pan shot of the front of the house ending on the car which

will then drive away from the camera leaving the camera still.

Cut to a shot of the family entering their new house, Flash backs to Bethan’s old friends and school so could use

an effect on the shot to make it look like its her thinking back and not just a shot that could be happening at the time of the filming.

Last shot will be a low angle shot of Bethan outside her new school as a low angle shot gives you a feel of how big starting again is and looking up at her.

Start of with a house for sale. I would either need to find a house for sale and ask

permission to shoot the outside or ask an estate agents can I borrow a sign and use a different house that I will need to get permission for too.

I would also need a different house that would be smaller than the first one to show how the family has had to down size.

Finally I would need the outside of a school building for Bethan's first

day at school to do mylow angle shot.

Locations

Page 20: Short films

I would need a car for the family to move house in.

I would also need a for sale sign. 2 houses, one grander than the other. Outside a school.
