Shri H V SheshadriA Visionary LeaderShri H V Sheshadri (1926 - 2005) was an Indian author and social activist. He was one of the most significant leaders of the Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
He was born in 1926 in Bangalore. He completed his master's degree in chemistry from Bangalore University.
Having been inspired by the ideals and principles of the RSS from childhood, he became a Pracharak ("full-time worker") of the RSS in 1946 and would play a pivotal role in the growth of the RSS in Karnataka. He held various responsibilities in the RSS such as Pranth pracharak, Kshetra pracharak and finally became Sarkaryavaha of the RSS in 1987. Due to his failing health, he retired as Sarkaryavaha in 2000 and was henceforth the organization's Akhil Bharatiya Pracharak Pramukh, a post he held until his death.
An excellent writer, he received the Karnataka State Sahitya Akademi Award in 1982 for his work Torberalu. He also wrote several articles for Vikrama, Utthana, The Organiser, Panchajanya, as well as other periodicals.
He criticised Sita Ram Goel's writing, describing
is as "polemical" and may have been one of the people responsible for the ousting of Goel and K.R. Malkani as contributors to The Organiser. Despite this, Goel praised Sheshadri's work The Tragic Story of Partition, a work that would be quoted by Prime Minister Vajpayee.
He was one of the most senior and respected leaders of the Sangh Parivar and inspired thousands of RSS workers. He commanded respect throughout the Sangh, ranging from BJP leaders to the ordinary RSS workers. He made a major contribution in communicating nationalistic thoughts and RSS ideology to the masses through his speeches and writings. He died in 2005. His funeral was attended by thousands of people.

Yoga Sudha4
On the auspicious month of August when we are dedicating our prestigious building as H V Sheshadri Bhavan in the hands of the General Secretary of RSS, Shri Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi, I share my association with my uncle Sri H V Sheshadri and share my responses to some of the questions posed by many Journalists in the country recently. When did you start Yoga and who taught you?Pujya H V Sheshadri taught me some simple Asanas when I was around 5 years. He asked me to bi-heart Bhgavadgita II Chapter Sthitaprajna Lakshana. When I did it, he asked me to go ahead for the entire II Chapter and later whole of Gita. That was the beginning and the real Yoga dimension with understanding came much later in my life when I was around 20 years old. What did you learn from him further? He became my role model in life with his tremendous organising capacity: his contributions to RSS are well known. Through his perfected writing skill he corrected many of my writings on Yoga and its applications. Still I have to rise to what he taught. With his masterly lecturing style to give right directions to people he corrected me talking to public and made me tailor make my talk to the level of the audiance. He made me to change them to make my scientific talks more attractive by stories, illustrations, etc to general public. His immense love for Mother Bharat inspired me to work for the country using the dimensions of Yoga. There are many schools of Yoga. Do you advocate any particular type? Swami Vivekananda gave the most Holistic
vision of Yoga which attracted me. And we use and advocate Yoga featured by Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga and Karma Yoga; shall we call it as Vivekananda Yoga?Do you feel that Yoga is having resurgence in India or is it declining? If it is the latter, are you concerned? It is growing wonderfully well with its true dimensionHow do you feel about more Yoga studios in the west, like California, than even India? Fine and good; in India also it is growing, but more important is that it is going to education system itself in India. Recently Texas Education Board in USA has asked our team in Houston to introduce Yoga in schools; it is a great boost to Yoga. There is an attempt by the west to disconnect the Hindu / Vedic roots from Yoga. What are your thoughts about this?It is like disconnecting tree from its rootsWould you say that Yoga is inherently Hindu and is there an attempt to strip it out of its own essence? It is a science of Holistic living developed by our ancient Yoga and Spiritual masters fathoming the dimensions of Reality thousands of years back. It is giving directions to the findings of science to go beyond the understanding of the physical world as Fritjof Capra wrote in his best seller Turning Point. Newton and Descartes started modern science which has grown to such a wonderful extent. Can we therefore brand it as Christian and discard it by other religions. Are you concerned with the sad state of Yoga today in the west where it has become a fad and so-called Yogis are not actually adhering to the Yogic principles that are part and parcel of the Asanas? The International Day of Yoga protocol developed by us in India by all great Yoga masters will bring the right direction to them all.

And (as the qualities) as (mentioned) in the Purusha-Vidya (of Chhandogya) are not mentioned (in that) of the others (i.e., in the Taittiriya) (the two Purusha-Vidyas are not one; are not to be combined). And (as the qualities) as (mentioned) in the Purusha-Vidya (of the Chhandogya) are not mentioned (in that) of the others (i.e., in Taittiriya) (the two Purusha-Vidyas are not one; are not to be combined). In the Vedic context, Purusha means sea of humanity. The human race excels all the living by quality, uniqueness. Purusha doesn’t mean only male, but both genders. A human being is bestowed with Pancha Koshtha (five essential compartments); brain, mouth, nose, stomach and heart along with five Koshas (layers); physical, vital, mental, intellectual / psychic and spiritual. For a complete journey of Purusha, any purusha should acquire VIdya (mode of meditation / worships). In this particular context it is told that human species are supposed to adopt many oaths / ceremonies / duties / rituals / disciplines etc, while in its life journey using the wonderful instruments – Jnanendriyas (sensory organs) and Karmendriyas (motor organs) and Manas (mind) for which all four Vedas, in particular Samaveda, provide guidelines. In this specific context through Tandi, Paingi etc. branches of Samaveda and Yajurveda Mantras also guide in the different stages of journey. Purusho Vava Yajnah. The entire journey itself is compared to a process of Yajna. Everything is a Yajna when one tries to maintain the natural balance in the universe by removing contamination, pollution and radiation. While performing Yajna, one should be very thorough with the mode of meditation or
Upasana. Yajaman becomes a great performer and his wife who sanctifies the process is Shraddha. ‘The performer, with devotion, performs Yajna to fulfill the desires’. This method is called Purusha Vidya which is well portrayed in the Vedas. The question here in this context is regarding its diversity and unity. There are numerous types of meditations mentioned in various contexts in the Vedas; should we consider all as one or different types all together? If there are differences, the very context would be explicitly narrated by Sage Vyasa. Separation and integration in the suitable context is the unique feature is Indian specialty.Acharya Badarayana indicates if there are differences in intentions, utilities and modes of worships or activities adjunct to it in various occasions, then they should be considered as different things. In some other occasions, Acharya Badarayana mentions regarding unity of these worships. Here in this context, a statement of Mahanarayana Upanishat is taken up for elaboration. Comparisons, similes, hyperboles, description and parables are given between human journeys with Yajna. Whichever is suitable in the context should be used for meditation of different kinds. Considering the methodology used even in Purusha Vidya of Chandogya and Taittiriya, a Sadhaka should adopt when unity is applicable and where diversity if applicable. These two types of meditations are spread across the Upanishadic texts. Specifically both Upanishads define their results of Purusha Vidya, they are different by intention itself. Though there are similarities, dissimilarities are more so that it is not appropriate to think of unifying everything.

Detached AttachmentAttachment is an intrinsic Trait in every one of us. So also, detachment is an inbuilt component in all of us. Attachment is predominant and detachment is dormant. In the practice of yoga, we deliberately and consciously strive to make detachment powerful and prominent. When detachment is made sufficiently strong attachment automatically becomes weak and thereby making the separation less painful. When attachment is less painful, detachment becomes more pleasurable. Ultimately, both of them become a game, making life a sport. And that is Yoga.
Seed, with all attachment, produces a small plant. With all attachment, the plan grows to be a tree. The tree with all attachment produces a bud; the bud produces a flower; the flower produces a nut; and that nut with all attachment grows to be a fruit. Finally, the fruit is ripened with all attachment by the whole working system of the tree. When fruit is fully ripened, it is no more stuck to the stem. Nor does the stem hold on to the fruit. There is detachment automatically developed between them both for separation. The detachment then is not painful, either to the stem or to the fruit. Similarly, in the human body, parts grow and at one point of time they fall. For example, locks of hair are fostered with all attachment and when they are ripe, they fall without pain, either to the skull or to hair; this detachment is an in-built mechanism. In the
entire creation, we find attachment ripening along with detachment. This is a natural process.
Forgetfulness is a gift from God. Healing is a blessing in Nature. Sometimes, when there is separation attachment is painful but the same pain, over a time is forgotten and the wounds are healed. All of us might have experienced intolerable pain when the kith and kin die. Similarly, our belongings like money and articles to which we are attached may cause pain when they are lost. But over the years, we forget the loss and the wounds are healed. It is yoga to apply the healing capacity with a conscious effort at the time of loss itself. Anyhow we are going to forget the pain in future. Why can’t we make an effort to advance that forgetfulness to the present itself ? The attachment is to hasten healing and is to usher in forgetfulness. It is the practice of yoga. Since detachment in the form of healing and forgetfulness is already available in us in dormant form, it is not impossible to make it strong, powerful and effective in the practice of yoga.
We have priorities. We are attached to some very strongly and to some very lightly. We are not attached to anything very very strongly. We have to learn to be less and less detached, priority wise. A person crossing a river carries mother daughter, wife, and money. When the water level increases, he has to drop one of them. Now it is a matter of priority to get detached from one of them. This detachment is unavoidable. One may drop mother first or wife first or daughter first or money first. Gradually as the water level increases on account of attachment

to life all are dropped. Even life too has to be dropped because of the increasing water. Using the intellect, man has to develop detachment because detachment is essential in life. “What is unavoidable is to be endured” is the proverb but for a yogi, what is unavoidable is enjoyable on account of detachment deliberately practised.
In the Ramayana Sriram at one point of time weeps profusely when Lakshmana is lying unconscious on the battlefield. He says “Lakshmana my brother I’m not really attached to you, I’m more attached to my life. If I’m really attached to you, more than my life, I should have died by now. My attachment is only momentary, superficial,
and not strong.” All people for want of enough effort, feel the painfulness of attachment. The dormant and in-built mechanism of detachment is to be deliberately practised by means of healing, forgetfulness, or the spirit of sport. While travelling by a train with all attachment, we make the berths comfortable for sleeping and sitting. While alighting from the train, we no more have any attachment to the berths to which we showed all attachment. The hidden detachment comes to the surface at the time of destination. Similarly, in our lives, let us consciously cultivate detachment to enjoy the game of life.

it is being popularized and practiced all over the world especially in countries like Russia, Germany, Japan, Netherland, Switzerland, Australia etc. You should take up the Post-Graduation as well.
Some tips for success in clinical practice:

them to decide the treatment.• Be ethical • Be honest • Be sincere• Short cuts always fail in long term.

Dear Graduants, now a big responsibility has come on you, to deal with the patients. You have to participate in a revolutionary movement of popularizing and propagating Ayurveda created by our Prime Minister. Thereby, bring Ayurveda to mainstream healthcare system. Before the entry of modern medicine into our country, Ayurveda was our primary healthcare system. Once again it should become the primary health care system of our country. Indulge in extensive research, publication highlighting the benefits of Ayurveda. Best of West in modern science research should be brought to India and integrated with Best of East. You have to extensively carryout evidence based research; publish papers in main stream journals like BMJ, Lancet etc. Learn the basic scriptures, go to the depth of Shastras, continue the chanting of classical texts like Ashtanga Hridaya, Charaka Samhita, Sushrutha Samhita etc.
Dr. B R Ramakrishna, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, S-VYASA Yoga University and Director SAMC & H presided over the function and greeted the graduants with his inspiring speech – I have

New Delhi: In a bid to encourage international students to learn Yoga, Human Resource Development Ministry has planned to introduce training courses under the Modi Government’s ambitious ‘Study in India’ programme.
Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman announced the ‘Study in India’ campaign in her maiden budget speech. The campaign focuses on bringing international students to study in the top ranking higher educational institutions in India. It provides for supernumerary seats for meritorious international students.
In India, foreign students are admitted in institutes only through the supernumerary seat quota of 15%. This means that regular quota of seats for Indian students won't be affected at all.
“The government has planned to have short-term courses in the Yoga institutions in association with the AYUSH Ministry for the students applying under the campaign,” said an official in the HRD Ministry. The programme will be
pursued further with the institutions under the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.
Over 70,000 students across 190 countries have already applied for admissions in these seats for 2019-20 academic year. With the help of the campaign, the government expects a quantum jump in the number of international students in the country.
This is one of the many initiatives that the Modi Government has taken to promote Yoga. In the Parliament, Union HRD Minister, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' has also described other ways in which his Ministry is working towards encouraging Yoga.
Apart from the Study in India Yoga training courses in association with AYUSH, there are other programmes of Yoga as approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). The UGC has approved the establishment of an Inter University Centre-Yogic Science at Bengaluru

and introduced Yoga as a new National Eligibility Test (NET) subject from January 2017 UGC-NET onwards. Further, in order to promote it in the country, Yoga Departments have been established in nine central universities.
Education is a subject in the concurrent list of the Constitution and majority of schools are under the jurisdiction of the state / union territory governments and it is for the respective state / union territory government to take a decision regarding the inclusion of Yoga in the teaching curriculum for their schools.
In school education, the CBSE has made Health and Physical Education compulsory in all classes from I-XII for its affiliated schools. The schools have been advised that health and
physical education must include three areas - health education, physical education and yoga. Besides this, the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), 2005, recognised Yoga as an integral part of health and physical education.
The NCERT organises Yoga Olympiad across India at various levels where schools from states and UTs, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) and CBSE schools take part in the Yoga Olympiad.
The government has also set up a Yoga Certification Board (YCB) to standardise and strengthen Yoga training by providing certification to individuals and accreditation to Institutions.

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,In modern times, management of noncommunicable diseases has become an enormous challenge to the medical fraternity worldwide. It is increasingly being recognized that non-communicable diseases are multifactorial problems and therefore the solutions to these have to be multi-faceted. Evidence based approach is of utmost importance to provide the best possible care for the patients.
Equally important is to develop cost-effective treatments. Modern Medicine, Yoga and other AYUSH systems of medicine approach patient care in their own unique ways. Each system has got its own advantages. Hence it is necessary to explore how these systems of medicine can complement each other in order to provide best solutions for the management of non-communicable diseases.
Hence, we have selected a theme “Yoga as Lifestyle Medicine” for 23rd INCOFYRA. This will make an effort to integrate Indian medicine and Modern Medicine with Yoga as basis for integrative medicine by bringing prominent researchers and doctors from all these fields under on one platform. The focus of 23rd INCOFYRA will be on reversal of Diabetes and Heart disease with Yoga as lifestyle intervention.
We welcome you all to our Prashanti Kutiram campus.
Conference Objectives1. To disseminate the research findings in the field yoga and
give directions to future research2. To translate the available research findings of Yoga therapy for
