2nd 80MW Unit at Suryadev Alloys to be synchronized shortly. Close on the heels of synchronization of the first 80MW
Suryadev plant, the second such is also set to attain the same
status. The first unit is currently generating the rated capacity
of 80MW. The performance guarantee tests (PG test) of the
Boiler, Turbine, Air Cooled Condenser, Fuel Handling System,
Ash Handling System, Water Treatment Plant have been
planned are proposed to the client. The PG tests are expected
to take place shortly.
Present status of the project
Progress of Erection and Commissioning work:
— 330 TPH, 96 bar, 540°C CFBC Boiler and ESP erection totally
completed and pre-commissioning activities in progress.
ID, PA and SA fan commissioned and Boiler slow firing
were completed.
— 80 MW Turbine alignment work was completed and boxed
up. Lube oil flushing is in progress. The turbine auxiliary
equipment erection completed. The oil centrifuge also
commissioned and included for oil flushing. The turbine
steam piping alloy steel P22, interconnecting piping alloy
steel P91 all are in progress and expected to be completed
shortly.
— Air Cooled Condenser super structure, equipments and
pumps erection were completed. The condensate piping is
in final stage of completion. The pneumatic testing of ACC
was programmed and pump and fan trails by ABB are also
under progress.
— 350 TPH Fuel Handling System was already completed and
ready for feeding coal to Boiler.
— Mechanical completion of the Ash Handling System is
complete now and the E&I works are in progress.
— Chimney - common for unit -1 & 2 - 100% complete.

SEPC to revamp hot strip mills at Bokaro.
SEPC has received a new Order from DANIELI INDIA, an
Erection Contract for Revamping of Existing Hot Strip Mill
(Roughing Mill Area) at Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL-SAIL) for an
Order Value of Rs. 28.69 Crores (inclusive of all taxes and
duties).
The overview - BOKARO Hot Strip Mill:
Slabs from CCS and Slabbing Mill are processed in the state-
of-the-art Hot Strip Mill. The fully automatic Hot Strip Mill
with an annual capacity of 3.363 million tonnes has a wide
range of products - thickness varying from 1.2 mm to 20 mm
and width from 750 mm to 1850 mm. The mill is equipped
with state-of-the-art automation and controls, using
advanced systems for process optimization with on-line real
time computer control, PLCs and technological control
systems.
BSL intends to upgrade all their existing Roughing Mill stands
with high powered drives and Automatic Gauge Control
Systems, aiming for a superior product mix and higher
production rates.
Scope of Work covers:
Dismantling of existing equipments, Mechanical erection,
Piping fabrication erection, Electrical erection including
Cabling & Termination, RR2 Pre-assembly & assistance to
Heavy lift erection, refurbishing work, stores management,
assistance during commissioning and Performance
Guarantee test of the plant after revamp.
In Unit-2, the Boiler works have been completed well in
advance and the other major areas like Turbine, Air Cooled
Condenser and IBR piping works came under critical path and
a huge task faced the organization in completing the Turbine,
ACC and IBR piping works to match the Boiler Schedule.
The erection and commissioning of the 7 metre tall Coke
Oven By-Product Plant (New CCD) at Rourkela Steel Plant
(RSP-SAIL), Odisha has been successful. This endeavour was
possible through a consortium comprising Shriram EPC and
Hutni Frydek, Mystek (Czech Republic) - Technology provider
PDIL for Ammonium sulphate plant. CET Ranchi was the
consulting partner for the project which is an integral part of
RSP's plans for expansion.

Up and running
SEPC's trial run of the Ammonium sulphate and
Ammonia liquor treatment plant at Rourkela Steel Plant
(RSP-SAIL), Odisha has come to a successful conclusion.
The job has been valued at Rs. 52 crore and is being
carried out SEPC with PDIL as its technology partner and
MECON, Ranchi as consultants.
This project is as per the upgradation programme of the
existing Coal Chemical Department of Rourkela Steel
Plant. Preliminary Acceptance Certificate (PAC) has been
obtained in January 2013 from the client and successful
trial run of the plant completed with production of
Ammonium sulphate salt.

Banking on momentum - New CCD at Rourkela, erected and commissioned
The value of the job has been put at Rs. 262.61 crores.
The Scope of work entails Detail Engineering,
Procurement, Construction and Commissioning. This
integrated Greenfield Coke Oven By-Product Plant was
successfully commissioned in April 2013 with
commercial production of Coal Tar and Ammonium
Sulphate liquor. Efforts are on to obtain the Preliminary
Acceptance Certificate and Commissioning Certificate.

Shriram EPC has finally brought the Bhavnagar pipe
rehabilitation project to a successful close. The Gujarat
Water Supply and Sewage Board had earlier awarded a
contract worth Rs. 46.12 crores for rehabilitating a 34.5 km
long pipeline.
Work began in right earnest post mobilization, on November
2012 and was completed sucessfully. The final value of
project is about Rs. 53 Crores.
Scope of the work included Manufacture, Supply, Delivery
and Lowering, Laying and Jointing of M S Pipe. The inner
coating to the pipe was of Epoxy and the outer coating was
Cement Mortar Guniting.

The Project was executed by Mr. Anant Desai as Project
Leader, Mr. Bharpur Singh as Project Manager and as GETs,
Mr. Ravi Anand and Mr. Anand Prakash Pandey. The main
Contractor was M/s P. D. Construction, Bhavnagar.
The much awaited 6.75 MLD Non-conventional water
treatment plant for Rural Water Supply Schemes at
Tilakwada was inaugurated in the presence of Hon'ble
Minister Ganpatbhai Vasava. The project features Shriram
EPC, Chennai as the prime contractor and will cover 93
villages of Tilakwada and Nandod, Narmada Dist., Gujarat.

Transmission lines at Tadipatri nearing completion
The Tadipatri wind farm project is in its terminal stages
of completion. Considerable progress to enable the
completion has been achieved on all fronts. Multi-
disciplinary teams are working for completion of the
transmission line stringing of the 26 KM transmission
lines. While on the other hand the Substation work as
well as the pre-commissioning trials of the WTGs are
nearing completion. The inspection related activities
by the various statutory organizations are also
progressing in parallel.

Breaking new ground
At Maharashtra, the land acquisition and approach
road activities are nearing completion for the 10.5 MW
project being executed for M/s BMD. The work on the
Bay extension of the substation has been completed.
Opportunities with Madras Medical Mission
LSML has been awarded a turnkey order by The Madras
Medical Mission for a 1.5 MW WTG. The project work
that includes land and infrastructure development,
supply, erection and commissioning of the WTG is in
progress at Tamil Nadu.
A pioneering effort - upgrading activities undertaken for the first time
As part of the Product Enhancement process two of the
earlier supplied WTGs to our overseas customer at Sri
Lanka are being modified to enhance their
performance. The earlier machines were provided with
rotor blades of 77 mts dia. The same have been
replaced with 86 mts dia along with associated
equipment. This kind of modification is being
undertaken by LSML for the first time under the
guidance of M/s Leitwind R &D.
Giving back to the Earth
The World Environment Day was celebrated at the
LSML factory on 05 Jun 2013. A dedicated tree
plantation drive involving the cross section of LSML
staff was conducted at the factory premises. The theme
of the year, 'Think, Eat & Save' that affects the
environment directly was disseminated to the staff
with a view to inculcate habits that shall avoid the
wastage of food.
Sharpening the saw
A one-day training program on Basic life support and Basic
fire safety was organized under the aegis of M/s Usha
Inst itute of Business Management recently at
Global Powertech Equipments Limited, Vandavasi. Eight
employees from the Head Office and 17 employees from the
plant - a total of 25 employees participated in the program,
Trainer Mr J Jayanth conducted the sessions highlighting
need of First Aid in Crucial hour and dos and don'ts while
dealing with unconscious victims and accident victims etc.,
followed by practical training in handling different types of
extinguishers for various types of fires. The program was very
useful, and interactive.

Change (UNFCCC) as a Clean Development Mechanism
Project.
Activities towards Corporate Social Responsibility
Shriram Non Conventional Energy Ltd, Pattukkottai, a
subsidiary of Orient Green Power Company, as part of the
corporate social responsibility aims at imparting knowledge
to the community around. In this regard OGPL has donated
Rs. 3000/- to the middle school of Mettuvayal village,
Peravuran i panchayat un ion. The P lant Head
Mr. M. Palanisamy was the Chief guest for the first
anniversary of the school's Cultural club and Sports function
and also distributed prizes to the winners of various
competitions.

Knowledge that empowers
Power Gen India 2013, the nation's premier conference and
exhibition for the power industry, was held at the Bombay
Exhibition Centre, Goregaon. Associates of Hamon Shriram
Cottrell took part in the event and gained valuable
knowledge.

A new avenue in Mangalore
Hamon Shriram Cottrell has been awarded a contract at the
prestigious Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd.
The contract covers aspects such as Cooling Tower, Pump
House, Cold Water sumps, Channels and the Cooling water
treatment plant. The scope of contract includes Design,
E n g i n e e r i n g , P ro c u re m e n t , C o n st r u c t i o n a n d
Commissioning. The cooling tower consists of 6 cells with a
total water flow capacity of 24,000 m3/hr. The same has
been commissioned and is now operational.

Recognition comes with performance - HSC awarded fresh contracts
This quarter in particular has seen a lot of activity with regard
to being awarded more contracts. Following is a brief
account of the latest developments.
Reliance Industries Ltd
The Contract includes design, engineering, procurement of
material, manufacture, testing, inspection, packing &
forwarding, delivery of goods, erection and commissioning
of 3 nos. cooling tower for Os & Us J3 Project at Jamnagar,
Gujarat.
BMM Ispat Limited
The Contract includes design, detail engineering,
manufacture, supply of cooling tower materials, civil
construction, erection, testing, commissioning and
performance guarantee testing of cooling towers for 1.25
MTPA Integrated Steel plant (4 sets of cooling towers for
Steel Melting Shop and 3 sets of cooling towers for Merchant
Bar MILL) at Danapur village, Hospet, Bellary District,
Karnataka.
Enmas GB Power Systems Projects Limited
This is the first Contract booked by HSC for Air Cooled Steam
Condenser. The Contract includes design, engineering, civil
design with construction drawings, manufacture, supply,
transportation to site, performance testing, erection and
commissioning of 6 ( 2 x 3 ) module Multi Row Air Cooled
Steam Condenser with KL Fin for Jeppiaar Power Corporation
