SI Widnes and India
Introduction
SI Widnes and Education
SI Widnes has a strong history of working or volunteering in education and several of our members have strong links with India2
A friendship link
The Brindavan Project
Vathsala and Radha come from Bangalore and still have strong family and friendship ties there, which led to a friendship link between the two clubs.3
The Project
The Brindavan Project
We were delighted when SI Bangalore invited us to join them in the Brindavan project, which allowed us to combine our common interests in education and India.4
SI Bangalore
We would now like to share with you a video about the project, which has been produced by SI Bangalore as they are, unfortunately, unable to join us here in Gateshead.5
The 3 EsEducate
Empower
Enable
We feel that the Brindavan project epitomises the 3 Es as SI Bangalores video has shown.6
The Dream
One of our fundraising events for the project was a walk to a local landmark, Dream. We feel that this represented our aims as Dream takes the form of a girls head. With her eyes closed in a dream like state. The sculptor says in our dreams, anything is possible7
The Dream
Her name is DreamShe stands up highAgainst the sky,A sculpture white and bright. Were walking up towards herAnd now our dreams take flightTo India, to Bangalore,To young girls who are givenUndreamed of opportunitiesAnd hope filled possibilities,Supported by Soroptimists And nurtured by Brindavan.
