THE DIGITALIZATION of treatment processes based on 3D X-ray data is progressing quickly. What has been successfully established with SICAT Implant – diagnostics and planning in 3D and implantolog-ical implementation with surgical guides – is now reaching new dimensions with a further application.

SICAT FUNCTION AND JMT + is a revolutionary solu-tion for the diagnosis and therapy of temporoman-dibular dysfunctions (TMD).

SICAT FUNCTION introduces an integrated 3D workflow for diagnostics and therapy of temporomandibular dysfunctions (TMD).

DIAGNOSTIC PATIENT INFORMATION from a 3D X-ray system, a Jaw Motion Tracker (SICAT JMT +) and optical surface scan data (CEREC, Dentsply Sirona) are merged in SICAT Function.

FOR THE FIRST TIME, the real patient-individual move-ment of the mandible can be visualized in 3D, true to anatomy.

IN ADDITION, the recorded jaw movement traces can be displayed and reproduced for any point on the man-dible and thus provide important therapeutical input.

BASED on the optical surface scan data the dynamic occlusion can be simulated and incorporated into treat-ment planning.

TRACK REAL MOTION IN MOTION

THE DATA MERGED IN SICAT FUNCTION al-lows for the first time a patient-individual 3D display of the mandible and teeth in motion for the first time.

BASED ON A SINGLE 3D X-ray image, any number of lower jaw positions and move-ment sequences can be visualized.

THE SPATIAL POSITION of both condyles and fossae are shown in various slices. The joint space can be shown and measured in a metrically correct way for every phase of move-ment and in each slice.

THE SIMULTANEOUS VISUALIZATION of both temporoman-dibular joints enables the simple documentation of the dif-ferences in joint function between the left and right sides.

THE VISUALIZATION OF JOINT PATHWAYS allows for the recording of all movement patterns and the programming of virtual articulators.

THE SICAT JMT + includes a facebow with integrated receiver modules as well as a perfectly balanced man-dibular sensor.

THE MANDIBULAR SENSOR is extremly light-weight and is attached to a paraocclusal T-Attachment by means of a magnetic fastener.

IN ORDER TO PRECISELY merge the data from the 3D X-ray and SICAT JMT +, the patients wears the SICAT Fusion Bite at the start of movement recording.

THE INDIVIDUAL MANDIBLE MOVEMENTS and jaw po-sitions are subsequently recorded by the mandibular sen-sor fixed to the paraocclusal T-Attachment which is simply and easily attached to the vestibular surface of the patient’s lower jaw teeth.

SUPPORTED BY THE HIGHLY PRECISE and contact-free recording of all degrees of freedom and movements of the mandible with the SICAT JMT +, the path is clear for the transfer, display and diagnose of the patient’s anatomically correct jaw movement in 3D.

Alternative:Digital workflow with stone model scan

Positioning of the SICAT Fusion Bite between the upper and low-er jaws of the stone model. Placement of the stone model on the base and subsequent scan with a Dentsply Sirona 3D X-ray system.

Optical surface scan of the patient with CEREC and subsequent merger with the 3D X-ray data directly in SICAT Function.
